Pragidealist
There are different ways to look at this. One is Harris is an exciting candidate that energizes democratic voters. The other is that Democratic voters have been waiting for dems to get their shit together to show their enthusiasm to fight trump. I like Harris fine but she's no Obama. My thoughts are its the second. Dems (and I think most of the country) are ready to vote down the right wing agenda and keep Trump out of office. I'm more hopeful than I've been in awhile about it. rns90, CreepingDeath, Come on Titans, and 1 other 3

I am all for informed debate and a discussion of positions--but shit like this is just childish and shows an inability to just participate in basic discourse. That's what the ignore function is for. My only complaint is that it doesn't work like twitter and block those folks from reading your own posts.

All the money pouring in just reinforces that they had lost confidence in Biden too. Especially the donors. They could not continue with him as the candidate. I don’t know what her chances are but at least we won’t get bludgeoned by clips of Biden misspeaks and the age argument shifts against Trump. LongTimeFan
As I thought, none of you want to answer because it is inconvenient that his stance is the same as the majority of the nation. Your sad attempts to try to tie him to P2025 are typical lefty moves. Now, are you saying that giving decisions back to the states is wrong? CA has many beautiful places so if i want to live there i would have to accept higher taxes, buying an ev in the near future, rolling brown outs, reparations, etc. So I can choose not to live there. Just like if abortion is your only stance for living in a state. You can choose elsewhere. Now, I live in TX and think that 6 weeks is too restrictive. 16 weeks or so is more appropriate imo. Popular Post OILERMAN
brTrump and the GOP never mentioned abortion once at their RNC, they know it's a losing issue and has cost them elections since over turning Roe. We know he's said women should get charged who get abortions and bragged about getting a nationwide ban. Now he is trying to waffle and go state issue! Its similar to the polls. Withholding support to try and get what you want or to wait until the answer is settled is one thing. Completely not supporting them is another. Funders and voters were speaking a clear message to Biden. "Drop out." That was never saying the same thing as "We'll never support you." Bc once the convention was over- I think this damn was going to break. Bc ALL of this support and energy was still there to beat Trump. That's why reading polls as if they are practice voting is severely flawed. Voters can change those numbers by simply refusing to answer the question. As long as voters wanted a new candidate and had some hope that it would be someone else, they could impact polls simply by refusing to take them. Then the sampling gets off and you only get the really enthusiastic supporters of either side. That's not the same as someone switching sides or chossing not to vote. Yet many ppl read the polls as if it were. But its makes for an impossible situation bc there's no data to validate it. All the polls will remain reliable but just not be an accurate predictor of November. They are even an accurate assessment of voter temperature. Voters definitely wanted a new candidate. We've known that for 2 years at least. But those polls and dry funding was NEVER an accurate predictor of behavior post convention. Now- as Harris gets settled in as THE candidate- we're getting more accurate and predictive data. Edited July 22, 2024 by Pragidealist

Titans279
Tough task ahead getting independents and the "double haters" on board but I think they've at least restored a sense of excitement to the base. OILERMAN
begooode
That stat of 60% first time contributors seems significant, and some context/experience around reading these results would be needed, lest we jump to conclusions.
