I'm not blaming Dems for his spending. But covid was a reality and according to the site, $4.6 trillion was spent on covid relief. https://www.usaspending.gov/disaster/covid-19 Don't get me wrong. I want him to cut deep with spending this time around. But if there ever was an excuse, this would be one? "Teacher, I couldn't make it to school because there was a worldwide pandemic and we didn't know what it was and how powerful it was and the government shut down everything and my dog ate my homework." Covid hit the US in Feb of 2020, Trump's last full year in office. How much did he cut spending in his first 3 years? Keep trying. Titans279
Republicans also want to make not paying your taxes easier by decimating the IRS. Definitely not what you'd do if you were worried about deficits.

How much of that is due to the corporate tax cuts by Trump that are still in place and continue to reduce government revenue? In addition, how much of that is due to Trump's failed covid response and the need to rescue businesses that were on the verge of collapse? Just blanketly using the 10 trill without any context ain't mathing. You're only talking about spending As the article I posted shows, the bigger problem is the slashed revenue. That 10 trill is largely because of Republican unfunded tax cuts. Basic math and common sense. Deficit is caused by deducting spending from revenue. Republicans reduce the revenue then scream look at all that spending!!! The article I posted showed that since the early 2000s 90% of the debt is the result of Republican tax cuts, lost revenue. All estimates before the election also showed Trump's plans would increase the debt way more than the Harris plans. So as stated, It's not even close who runs the debt up more IsntLifeFunny, oldschool, Omar, and 2 others

He's a smart dude and yet he continues to parrot common lies about the economy. Republicans started the trickle down bullshit under Reagan and people caught on and quit buying it. Trump flat out said he didn't care about the deficit after he left office. I also believe the talk of tariffs is another BS lie to try and justify tax cuts. The tariffs will pay for it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they don't even do tariffs anymore than they already are. But one thing is 100% certain, they are cutting tax rates on the wealthiest people, and remember, corporations are people too! MadMax

I don't promote the right nor do I believe that Trump’s economic policies will be a positive or that the conservatives, now in power, will be magically fiscally responsible when they've demonstrated otherwise for the last 2+ decades. My primary point is that neither party has taken reasonable measures to do the things most voters actually want.

By both sides'ing everything you help perpetuate misinformation. The average voter no matter party affiliation believes Republican policies are better for the economy despite overwhelming evidence that isn't the case at all. Maybe you should reflect on why so many people disagree with you, and instead of assuming that everyone else is stupid, allow for the fact that maybe, just maybe, they want the same things you do and have a right to push the country ahead the way they believe is best too.
