If Latham pans out at LT then is it really poor positional value?

I get the distaste for this pick..but if it opens up JS and the rest of the front 7 to play more aggressively then it could have more of an immediate impact then we realize.

@AussieTitanFan08 I totally get it now lol...its impossible not to use the "if's".

This is a great pick for Wilson's system. The only argument is they might've been able to trade down.

Since they didn't have this type of player on the roster, they really couldn't risk not getting him. He's exactly what they needed.. assuming of course he pans out.

Now the only positions they really need are ILB and S, maybe OT but I doubt they draft another OT. They could also still sign Justin Simmons so i'd say ILB is the biggest need left.

The biggest bright spot last night was Sweat's play.    6 tackles, 2 more loss and constantly disrupting the Miami blocking schemes. He did this without Simmons as well. He played 78% of the

Titans HAD to upgrade their Dline. Newton, Fiske, and Jenkins were all guys who played the same role as Simmons. I like those guys but I've told people all offseason that the Titans weren't going to d

As long as they can keep Sweat away from Davenport he's got a chance!

Who did people want in that spot if they stuck and picked with no trade back? Just curious.

It wasn't gonna be CB, the WRs were meh, LB I always thought they would wait until the 4th at the earliest...so idk

Ignoring the fact we could have traded back? I would have been fine with  DeJean, Jenkins or kneeland.

Odds are low enough that these players will be successful at the position they played in college.  Trying to project them at a much more difficult one isn't realistic or fair

This is the type of player who won't show up on the stat line as much but he'll require 2 blockers and that'll free up Simmons and Murray. Murray could have a big year blitzing w/ Sweat and Simmons taking up blockers.

Titans need a high IQ sideline to sideline ILB who can chase and tackle and be the QB of the defense though. Not sure if there are a lot of those left or not. I don't know the LBs well.

If we can then sign Justin Simmons, this defense will be complete. It could still use some upgrades but they'll be able to run this system. Man coverage w/ very good man coverage CBs. Hopefully Simmons playing deep middle. BigJ and Sweet taking up blockers for creative pressure from Landry, Murray and Key.

If he's really a 3 down player and stays motivated and out of trouble it's a great pick. Really just don't see how they can be so confident that he'll stay motivated and stay out of trouble.

I'm not as worried about him getting in trouble... staying in shape is another question.

Not sure if it’s been posted (and I can grab a link if it hasn’t), but I just saw on YouTube Callahan and Carthon talking about the pick, and how they visited Sweat’s family to talk about potential expectations and what-not. Surface-level seems like they did their due diligence and homework on him prior to making the pick.

People talking about his weight. Did anyone here ever see Vince Wilfork? That guy was the most unathletic looking beast.

It's not the weight it's keeping it in check. Every player regardless of position has a certain playing weight that is best for them.

350ish is his playing weight. He's just in the 360-365 range now iirc

Will be under Simmons wing

Ehhhhh, while having a good role model is always a plus I'm not going to think that is going to change the guy. If he does he could be wolfolk(not really, he isnt that strong). If not he could be anything from an average Joe to worthless.
