"Sure, the run game was productive and consistent down to down but what about the big runs!" It's both. He got what was blocked for him and moved the pile a bit. I promise if you asked him he would say it wasn't a good game for all the reasons I've highlighted. Rewatching his runs I was too harsh, but correct that he knows he left a lot of yards on the field from shoe string and arm tackles. Aramis

My gut feeling though is that Levis simply took advantage on plays Tannehill was leaving on the table. Dating back to last year, I noted that Tannehill was missing way more deep throws than I remembered. Levis hit those today and doing so early made the Atlanta secondary loosen up, which opened up the rest of the field. I'm just guessing here but it seems reasonable enough. I'm not sure if Tannehill sees them open or not. I'm leaning towards no but I will say that Tannehill has a longer wind up and has to step into throws to throw the same distance. He needs a very clean pocket to make those passes. Levis can make the same passes off his back foot with pressure coming and the ball is out quicker and arrives quicker. That's what you hope for moving forward. I was actually surprised to see the pressure stats and time to pass. I guess I'm used to pressure beginning sacks because I didn't feel he was pressured nearly that much and wanting to see how he handles pressure was a big holdout concern for me. big2033
Aramis
The problem with Henry that you won’t see in the stats is the eye test. He is clearly not the same back IMO. There were instances yesterday where he would’ve previously busted a big run. There has also been other instances this year where there is a single guy coming off the edge that Derrick would’ve stiff armed or alluded for a 20-40 yd+ gallup. He appears slower and not getting what he used to. He had situations this year where the blocking was fine and put him in a situation to make a play. He’s not making that play like he used to. Not saying this is a bad thing per se - maybe we’ve just been spoiled with all the home runs of the past. Downtown
Levis really impressed me for reasons that are already touched upon ad nauseam in this thread. The pass rush was drastically improved with the presence of Teair Tart. That guy is going to get paid. Even with an improved pass rush, this defense overall is suspect and a disappointment. We still needed a drop from their newly acquired backup WR from their backup QB to stop the last drive and continuing to slice us up. Drake London was out the 4th quarter, otherwise I'm not sure we could stop them period. If Levis saves Vrabel's job, we really need another defensive mind to help that side of the ball. titanruss, Aramis, and Smokes
Popular Post nine
At the risk of stating the obvious…one huge difference with Levis vs Tannehill is the deep throws. Tannehill’s deep throws have always been more-or-less targeted throws to a specific spot with a relatively low arc and trajectory….which is fine, but it allows very little room for error or for his WR to make adjustments. Levis puts a lot more air under the ball, which gives his WR more opportunity to adjust to a ball that’s slightly over/ underthrown…or to battle the DB for position and make a play on a 50/50 ball. Nothing at all against RT….but this year we’ve seen several deep balls that just barely missed the mark and landed just a yard ahead of or behind the target. Yesterday we saw how those plays likely would have turned out if those balls were thrown with more of an arc and a bit more air under it. heyitsmeallen, 10 A See, Smokes, and 2 others

Not sure what goes on with the secondary at times. That instance where four guys were around one falcon receiver and he manages to convert the third down was frustrating. You're reading way too much into it. It was noting that Levis carried the entire fucking team on his back, had a poor showing by Spears, Burks, and Chig and accounted single handedly for all 4 TDs. The rest of the offense besides Hopkins was pedestrian or terrible. I'm not reading into it. I'm watching from the club seats shaking my head about an argument in the cheap seats that has little to do with anything. Atl was the 3rd ranked rush D. Henry didn't have a long run but averaged nearly 5 YPC. The king helped the offense succeed and was himself successful against a VERY VERY good run D. Pretty much everything that needs to be said on it has been said and was obvious but you keep going. I also threw you a few bones but you do the sarcastic laugh - so you do you... I'm done on that issue because there's more fun shit to talk about. Edited October 30, 2023 by titanruss Mythos27

Downtown
Judging by Vrabel's presser, it sounds like meathead is going to go back to Tannehill the first moment he can. And then my head will explode. Starkiller, Supernope, and croatian22 1
