The amount of welfare fraud that goes on (and Cares Act fraud, for that matter) is so massive that no one would believe the numbers were real if they heard them. Send him to prison. Find people doing this kind of thing and make an example of them is what I say.

iIt's pretty judgy to say what steve was doing was immoral since we don't know his family arrangement and if this was OK with the wife or not. We know the wife knew about her. We know what happened in the end was painful and embarassing for all involved.... but we don't know if they were fine with him having his affair as long as no one was getting embarassed publically.

From the looks of it all his wife was already done with him and his family.

Its not immoral in the least to fuck sluts. Its Anti-christian maybe but it's perfectly human and was/still is religious goals for like a fuck ton of the world.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of this.  I think the assumption many make on both sides of the political aisle, is that morality is some universal concept.  It's not.  I don't think it's immoral to fuck whores, or do drugs, or even try to get a volleyball field built for your alma mater.  I think it's judgy to claim my morality trumps another, as long as the other isn't directly harming (infringing) someone else.

As far as the Favre stuff, I personally could give two shits since he was miss-allocating government funds, something politicians do daily in an attempt to pay off their voters.

You shouldn't make examples, you should set standards.  The problem in the US right now is that both sides want to hold the other to a standard, but not their own side.

As someone who's worked in government for the past 15 years, I can definitely say that there certainly are standards for every single thing imaginable, and entire departments of people set up just to examine the standards, but the accountability part never really occurs. In most cases, it's just laziness, but it IS political in a lot them.

Yeah, the 'or what' is never considered..."You need to meet x standard" but there is never a consequence if you don't.  It's extremely frustrating for those exceeding the standard, and ultimately leads to quality people leaving.  Then, when some standard is arbitrarily enforced, the finger-pointing and hypocrisy accusations begin, and for the most part, they are justified.

Generally, the reaction to discovering an instance of massive fraud is: let's use this as a learning tool. we'll form a committee to evaluate the oversight and come up with strategies to prevent this type of incident moving forward.

One guy in fleet management forgot to close the seal doors to the underground parking garage, and we lost 70 government vehicles in a massive flood. He wasn't immediately terminated. Just offered the option to retire vs face possible termination or suspension/decision-making leave. And a committee was formed to investigate the steps to be taken for severe weather.

MADDOCK, N.D. (AP) — A woman who brought a wild raccoon into a North Dakota bar, which prompted state health officials to issue a warning about potential rabies exposure, is facing criminal charges.

Erin Christensen, 38, of Maddock, is charged with misdemeanor counts of providing false information to law enforcement, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful possession of furbearers.

It's easy to be inefficient with someone else's money.

I'm sure you'd agree that what your ex-wife did to you is perfectly acceptable on a human level, since morality is not a universal thing. Right?
