He was their best offensive player. Doesn't mean they can't improve their offense overall Low bar if last year is the basis. Getting closer to what the standard and expectation had been will be more challenging. Jonboy

Last year when injured the Titans didn't even attempt to execute a down field passing game it was so bad. They won games starting five different LTs. It's really amazing when you think about it. The problem is paying significant money to a guy who is hurt all the time and may have degenerative knee problems at this point. They were babying him through last season snap-count wise, not good at his age. The sticking point likely came to the Titans wanting an easy out should AJ's health tank and AJ wanting more security for the same reason This is precisely the case. What I will add is that though his talent is elite, his production wasn't but as discussed that's had more to do with his injury history and how little we throw the ball. BudsOilers
Right or wrong, the Titans had a limit on what they would pay Brown and the market exceeded that. Doesn't take away from Brown's ability one bit. At the same time, he's a tad overrated on here by some. Top 15 sure but he's not a top 5 receiver. Too many drops and missing time to be that. nine, Bongo59, and Mythos27

AJB is a top WR, but he benefited greatly from the offense the Titans ran. Glad he got paid! I think it's a big win for the Titans! Wait...AJ benefited from the Titans offense? Jesus Christ this fanbase is full of fucking morons. Every-time you idiot homers post, I get more and more hopeful that the stadium deal falls through and we can ship the team back to Texas. headhunter
Brown kinda had a down year last year. Injuries, drops and somebody said he doesn't practice all week till Friday so he may be becoming a diva who knows. He's a great player though. I like Burks alot, he's gonna get yards after the catch and be a deep threat.
stormi
Pretty destroyed by this. I like Burks as a prospect, don't love him. I loved AJ as a prospect and as a player. He's a top 5 talent. But to get a semi replacement on a rookie deal and avoid paying AJ the price that he commanded is fine business. All it really indicates to me is that J Rob is continuing to build a complete roster for continual and long term success. Going all in on this core of Tannehill/Henry is not what we're doing. It's one of the things that irritates me the most about rationalizations. You can reasonably argue that it's hard to pay a player who's availability can't be dependent on or that lacking availability does something negative to his value. You can't reasonably argue that his loss is offset by a combination of 4 or 5 players at multiple positions when you already had most of those guys and could have also had AJ Brown, plus some of those guys were needed to fill holes anyway. It's just a bunch of double counting and hand waving. People can't focus on only the stuff that actually makes sense. They start adding in a bunch of other stuff that is just off base. JRob shouldn't be out there saying that they had to make the move when the compensation was so good because getting a first and a third is pretty questionable compensation. He shouldn't be out there saying they did everything they could when AJ Brown's contract demands weren't unreasonable in the slightest. He should simply say that AJ Brown is a great player with an injury history and the date couldn't agree on what that injury history meant in contract negotiations. But I suppose lying to fans playing coy with wording is part of his job. He can't be blunt, he has to message his stuff to make people feel good. They hammer the ball and create big plays on conflicted downs. They'll line up in heavy sets and dictate defensive formations they can throw against, hell you know this! Hooper can play inline and block and go out, they didn't have a TE capable of both last year, so he doesn't have to be Walker, he has to be what he says. Woods will catch quick inbreaking routes off of playaction. The pieces fit, the pass protection is actually a bigger question mark than the skill people. They need Lewan back to consistent form and Radunz to step up, A drafted LG who can play. All reasonable possibilities The Titans offense is easier to defend today than it was yesterday period. Will adding Woods and Hooper offset the loss of Brown? Its possible but to act like its not a massive concern is crazy. I'm well aware of what the Titans offense wants to be even if I don't like it. The problem is to play this style you need a big play WR (gone), a reliable #2 to move the chains (Woods), a dominant run blocking OL (Nope) and decent pass protection (non existent). We all better hope Henry and Tannehill return to their 2019 and 2020 levels of production or the offense will most likely take a step back. You try to forget how most of you concluded he was the most important offensive player last year and that we needed to make him the focal point. You guys know this is a step back. Eagles made a phenomenal deal and are paying him what the market says he's worth. I love Henry, but damnit he's going to have to carry this offense even more (please don't bring up Tannehill, we saw how he was without Brown). I posted about being apprehensive of giving AJ top dollar largely due to his injury history BEFORE we made this move. Some of us aren't "rationalizing" shit; we just understand the rationale. I'm sure there were Vikings fans that were distraught when they sent Diggs packing too, that doesn't mean it was the wrong move.
