Invasion of Ukraine: Drone Incursion Into Poland

I was asked what I wished would happen.

I wish that Russia had no nuclear deterrent -- through some tech collapse or failure of intelligence -- and that NATO would run the invaders right out of Ukraine.

What do you wish would happen?

"The six nuclear power reactors at Zaporizhzhia are not Chernobyl-type reactors, they are 950 MW VVER-320 (Pressurised Water Reactors), built 1980/86," he says.

"Unlike Chernobyl, they have a containment around the reactor to stop any radioactive release. Unlike Fukushima, these VVER reactors have separate water circuits to cool the reactor and to produce steam.

"In addition to the normal cooling systems, these reactors have emergency core cooling systems consisting of four hyroaccumulators which will passively inject cooling water into the reactor in the event of a problem. They also have multiple train high pressure and low pressure injection systems to prevent a core melt."

Various reports claim the fighting has stopped at power plant and fire fighters are working on the fire.  Fire is at a training building and not a danger to reactors.  Radiation levels are normal.  Only one reactor is in operation at the moment (didn't specify any reason).  The Guardian, Al Jezeera, and Deccan Herald.

I did stumble across a site I've never seen that said....

"Apart from six units, the station has a spent nuclear fuel storage facility. It includes about 150 nuclear fuel containers. If these barbarians continue to fire upon the station and hit those containers, we will actually have a nuclear disaster," the minister said.

It all just seems another instance of Russian military snafu.  Looking at a map, the power plant appears to be closer to the Russian border and Crimea than Kyiv and closer to Moscow than Warsaw.  Just seems like incompetence.

I can only imagine Putin learning of events and yelling, "God Damnit!!!!!!"

A poll commissioned by Finnish broadcaster YLE this week showed that, for the first time, more than 50% of Finns support joining the Western military alliance. In neighboring Sweden, a similar poll showed those in favor of NATO membership outnumber those against.

Genius.  Smart.  Our leaders are dumb.

The wind tends to blow westward in that area of the world.

Are you insinuating that the Biden administration had something to do with this?

That's what your idiot leader said about Putin and said everyone else was dumb.

He looks even more like a dumbshit now, eh?

As the United States increasingly goes after some of the Kremlin’s business tentacles, the latest person arrested for violating U.S. sanctions against Russia is less notable for his ties to Vladimir Putin than his old ties to Sean Hannity—he is a former Fox News producer who left to launch a Russian propaganda network.

The Department of Justice on Thursday revealed that Jack Hanick was quietly arrested in London on Feb. 3 for dodging U.S. sanctions by helping a sanctioned Russian oligarch, Konstantin Malofeyev, start his right-wing Tsargrad TV.

The DOJ simultaneously unsealed a grand jury indictment against him, accusing Hanick of knowingly engaging in business dealings with Malofeyev, who had been formally sanctioned by the U.S. government for his role in financing Russia-backed soldiers in eastern Ukraine who have violently tried to break off from the democratic country since 2014.

Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson openly admits he is rooting for Russia.   These people are traitors.
