He filled in well in the playoffs in 19. He isn’t a coverage backer though. He’s definitely an undersized strong side backer with some upside in zone coverage. tgo, and SirLanceALot
Guts
He needs delegated to short yard situations and blitz packages. Thrill, and Starkiller
Popular Post Starkiller
We all knew Evans wasn’t getting the 5th year option. He has always stood out on the goal line, but otherwise he has been a disappointment. If they want to get something out of him, use him as the extra LB on short yardage plays and give him snaps as a pure pass rusher. He isn’t good reading and reacting, but he is still a hell of an athlete who can win matchups being aggressive. rns90, charleytolar, Thrill, and 7 others
SirLanceALot
If the real plan for JRob is to not re-sign Evans at the end of the year, then we can only hope we can get a Corey Davis type of year that he had last year out of him this season. GLinks
I mean, it seemed pretty clear that drafting Rice was all about Evans insurance one way or the other. Long is already the insurance for Jayon. I hope not, but either starter could be out or benched. I thought without looking to see if it makes sense they could send Evans to ATL because of Pees, but I always kind of saw him as being seduced by the Ravens as a free agent. Or the Patriots. But I’m afraid trading him is not an affordable luxury right now. Edited May 3, 2021 by GLinks

Well, there isn’t going to be any Corey Davis type of year, but he could get some sacks as a pass rush specialist and actually have some value. Long is Evans replacement, Rice could be Brown's. IsntLifeFunny, Justafan, XAEA12, and 2 others

Long isn't an ideal fit for WILB either, but better than Rice. Justafan

I don't think Long does have a future on the team. He'd basically just be an average starter at best if he fully maximizes his potential. He's more of a career backup imo. Bongo59
Evans knows he is playing this year for his next deal elewhere ala Conklin and Davis. I love that JRob sent the message with Rice. Camp is going to be interesting for these two.

I like Brown but its way too early to assume he's get resigned based on how he played last year. He needs to show last year was an anomaly.
