That was the thing that stuck out listening to the interview John Clayton was trying to talk up Seattle's chances and Russini basically said Clowney was simply not interested in returning and his actions backed it up when he wouldn't even counter the offer they made him. It's kind of weird how Seattle just kinda sat back and didn't pursue Everson Griffen harder than they did when they knew that Clowney wasn't in probablility going to re-sign there. Or pursue a Ngakoue trade harder. Edited September 8, 2020 by rns90

Their GM has made a lot of perplexing decisions. They should've just kept Frank Clark. enigma

Popular Post AussieTitanFan08
Piecing all the reporting together it seems once the NFL ruled that teams can't essentially trade draft picks for cap space and the joint Jags/Ravens and Browns/Saints offers were no longer on the table the Titans were the only viable option left for Clowney. Also the Jags reported interest in Clowney makes sense now in the context they were essentially only interested in the deal as a way to acquire further 2021 Draft capital from the Ravens as part of a sign and trade. In the beginning he was a terrific GM. Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Doug Baldwin, Richard Sherman, Bobby Wagner, trading for Marshawn Lynch, adding Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett in FA. Those are incredible moves in his first few seasons. It'd be hard to be a better GM than he was at that time. But I think he believes his own hype now though constantly trading down and getting extra picks. Getting too cute for his own good. He's made some truly awful trades. Yeah, he hit on those guys early and then hasn’t drafted worth shit since. Mythos27

The Saints apparently weren't willing to give up even after he had told the Titans he was coming to Nashville. Russini also mentioned that the Titans had an offer on the table for Clowney since April and all it took was a small increase on top of that April offer on Saturday afternoon and the deal was done. I also heard her mention that Vrab had planned to take a picture of Clowney eating with them in the Titans cafeteria to throw some shade at the Saints lol. Would've made for a good laugh...
