After Sunday's game at Philly Zach Mettenberger has now logged 4 NFL starts, one quarter of an NFL season. He's played 2 road games, 2 home games which also includes a Monday Night Football game in pr

What a joke.  If you remove all of his TD passes and any pass over 15 yards, he is the worst rookie QB by far.  Quit being so bias.

If they undergo a youth movement, which they will, then they'll have plenty of cap space to grab someone like Fitzgerald if he gets cut by the Cardinals (at $16M with a $8M bonus in March, I would be

Can't wait until Mett has a good offensive line blocking for him,a punishing running game and a defense that improves enough to rank among the top ten defenses in the league. When this does happen i think Mett will lead us back to being one of the top teams in the league.

Never seen OMan so positive on a Titans player, he must be legit!

He still has a lot to prove and needs to work on some weak areas but considering the spot he's been put in it's hard to imagine doing much better than this

When comparing Mettenberger to other rookies you have to discount his results a lot.   He is making line adjustments and changing plays.  Those other rookies are not doing that.  That gives Mettenberger an unfair advantage when comparing him to them.  By making those adjustments he is putting his offense in the best situation to do well.  That amplifies his results compared to them simply going out and running whatever play is called and a lineman making adjustments.

What you should really do is compare Mettenberger to the 7 or 8 QBs in the NFL who also do those things, then, since the rookies are not, then compare how Mettenberger compares to those real peers of him to the other rookies.  When you do that Mettenberger is probably average to below against the other top 8 QBs who do those things. Then when you bring that ranking back to his rookies peers, his average to below makes 2 or 3 of the rookies better than him now.

I hadn't thought to project Mett out yet but you're right that after these four games it's not a bad point to do it... and the results are admittedly impressive all things considered. He's got to play those other 12 games and I'd not at all be surprised if he didn't meet projections. Even coming close would be gravy, however.

Meanwhile, compare Britt and Hunter.

... this year.

ESPN projects them both at 39 catches, 698 yards for Hunter and 694 yards for Britt and 4 TDs each and 17.8 yds per catch vs 17.7 yds per catch

Almost identical
