Perhaps they were scared because he was in the district attorney office but in my high school, if a creep in his 30s was hanging out at high school football games or the mall, trying to pick up high school girls, guys would have beat the hell out of him. Most steroid-using jocks looked for petty excuses to start fights. No way they would turn down the chance at a fight and took like chivalrous at the same time. I live in AL. we'll see. the race was close before this stuff came out and VA swung way left b/c polls underestimated Dem turnout. I'm not confident by any means but we'll see how it goes. These stories came out because reporters went down to Alabama to look into an extremely controversial Senate candidate, standard procedure for any major news outlet. Rumors of Moore's escapades had apparently been swirling around for decades but no one had put in the effort to track down the individual women and get their stories on the record. I could see a college kid meeting some girls that look and are acting older then 16 or even 14 but to me that is the way times have changed in the last 10-15 years where girls look and try to look older... Back in this era it seems willy nilly or the times in Alabama were something like in the dark ages... The repub brand was so sullied by this that Gergen was completely flustered even discussing repub reactions and next steps. The parents were negligent in allowing a grown ass man get on top of their young daughters. Fuck did they think Moore was doing with them? Drinking sodies at the ole burger shoppe followed by a clean game of charades? Moore was a very powerful man and they either wanted something from him or were too afraid of him to say no.
