Exactly.... Dike plays Z and the slot, like Ridley. Ayomanor is an X, like Tate

We'll see... before the draft you and others were calling Tate a pure Z

Did we really draft Tate or does Jamal need to see him in a jersey first

Long story short, he is an analytical dream. Absoluty elite in   catch rate   contested catch rate   drop rate   yards per route run against both zone and man

I’d assume he’s taking the common talking point people had that Tate could be a really good #2 and not a dominant #1. Then somehow spinning #2 WR into Z only lol.

Tate might be a better fit at Z than X in the long run. We’ll see how he does against the jam and press man.

But on this team, Tate is the X because no one else can play the X.

Tate will not be bound by your silly lables, he shall be the Alpha and the Omega of WRs.

I was the one who said I thought he would struggle with press at the next level. We'll see.

The idea that Tate is more of a Z than X has to do with the fact he's not built like Megatron or Julio. But he doesn't have to be. People have it in their minds that the X has to be at least 6'4", 225 lbs of pure muscle, but there are other ways to play X than simply out muscling and bullying dudes. Route running, strong sideline catch abilities, velcro hands, etc.

Yes, Tate needs to be able to beat press at the line but he can do that without being a Hulk. Justin Jefferson is more of a zipper like Tate (195 lbs) and he beats it all the time. He and Chase, Adams, and Terry McLaurin are all a bit shorter than Tate too. Reggie Wayne was shorter.

All these guys have won at the line in their own ways.

Yep, he just has to show that he can do it when teams are focusing on stopping him. But that’s the big question.

I disagree a bit. I think people don't view him as an X because he wasn't the go to player, hasn't shown "explosion" like breakaway speed/rac, and it was unproven if he could beat press without help.

I think his length is fine, but you'd like to see a bit more muscle eventually... if any of the above prove to be true.

Jefferson was also an inch and a half shorter and almost 10 lbs heavier at the combine. .1 faster 40. I so don't know if he was viewed as a #1 until he proved it.

I've seen nothing but it reported as a given that Tate is the X. Who are the people saying otherwise?

It's probably just regurgitation of 2nd hand opinions from outside people. I've only really seen talk of it from random Twitter twatters thinking they know what they're talking about. Same as with the people thinking Ayo is a Z.

I guess all our receivers are in competiiton for that coveted Z spot.
