TeamRamrod
It always blows my mind that there is NFL GMs that aren’t at least familiar with every prospect in every class. Ran just said on the radio when they drafted Jaylin Harrell he and Callahan were watching his tape DURING the 7th round and were confused why he wasn’t drafted lol Like it was their first time seeing him. And this isn’t just a bagging on Ran thing to be clear. There’s a lot of GMs that operate this way. I’ll just never understand it. I bet Mike Borgonzi has watched every single guy that could reasonably be drafted. You would think the GM would watch plenty of tape on every player the team has on their board (including UDFA prospects) Edited 6 hours ago by tgo TeamRamrod, and NashvilleNinja

I’m sure they had a list of names from the scouts and Ran and Callahan were watching video last minute to decide which one to pick. oldschool, japan, and CreepingDeath

But I know for a fact there are GMs who do watch hundreds of guys Oh, I’d bet most GMs have probably seen at least 200 players’ tapes. And if we’re talking just highlights then more. But there are just too many guys for any one person to watch them all in addition to all the other responsibilities a GM has. Aside from the late round picks you still have tons of other players to sign among the undrafted. That’s why they have to depend on their scouts so heavily to identify the right guys, especially beyond day 2.

But usually there are only like 150 players at most on most teams draft boards, surely a GM could briefly watch that many over time if they start in the Fall. But yes, the heavy lifting of course would be done by the scouts and reviewed by the senior scouts, etc.
