This is so dramatic.  At worst, they'll drop a few spots in the draft.  It's not like they're losing their 1st in some sort of NBA protected trade scenario.

@scine09 see? This dumb shit. We shoukd openly root for losses to get a higher draft pick unless the team is a superbowl contender. The mentality is insane. How can you watch sports or ant competition for that matter? Imagine applying this mindset outside of sports.

Cam plays good this game, then I would appreciate this win more. If we somehow build momentum and win more games the rest of the way, then I  could appreciate it. 

 

But this roster will be overhauled from top to bottom next year, along with the coaching staff. So what exactly do we gain from this win over the lowly Browns by 2? I'm seriously wanting your opinions. 

 

This is coming from a fan of this franchise since the Oilers days and have supported this team through thin and thin.

I think they had a brilliant game plan to run screens right at Garrett, who was so focused on getting sacks. They totally exploited his up field aggressiveness with misdirection runs and screens. They were very successful with it. When they were in a 3rd and long and tried straight drop back Garrett easily got a sack. 

 

 

 

The oline played well enough-- no question had good play design (screens, underneath plays that took advantage of the aggressive wide 9 front, and double teams) but they did well. They even stopped the patented euro step move that absolutely killed Trent Williams last week. I watched Garrett specifically a lot today and he did not dominate us as expected

Trading players for picks midseason and still trying to win games each week is not the same as actively hoping your team loses 16 games to secure the #1 pick.

Nobody is wanting to lose for a higher pick. We just want a haul for a better future. 

 

What good does a bad-win do for us at this point?

The potential block buster trade is what's at stake. Not a few draft slots.

The Titans are the ones that have been earning the 1st overall pick all year. If you believe in Borgonzi's abilities to manipulate the draft to his advantage then you believe in them even harder if he holds the 1st pick (in every round, fyi) instead of the 6th or 7th pick. Those aren't projections, those are facts.

 

You're just rooting for a lesser pool of players at this point.

It's absolutely mind-boggling.  It's insanity. Hopefully the Raiders win a game and we can look back on this win a little more fondly but until then it's a long-term disaster.
