My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

I really am intrigued by how likeable Mike McDaniel must come off as in these interviews...

I think when people hear "accountability" as a key priority they imagine the big personality charismatic type. They likely think "meatheads" like Vrabel, Campbell, Saleh (and quietly in NFL circles, McVay fits that personality type as well although most of the public assigns the genius label to him).

But accountability can be achieved in other ways, and I wonder how Mcdaniel can do it. That Miami team did not quit on McDaniel. And the spouts in the media that he had regarding his QB, we saw as him losing the lockeroom, but in retrospect he may have just been holding Tua accountability for not doing his job.

If McDaniel is the type that demands perfection, and his preparation forces players to respect his demand for perfection then I think that is the way and his way of demanding accountability. Furthermore if his plans and innovations produce early returns that make players look better and put them in advantageous positions then the accountability piece will naturally come

They're conducting a virtual interview with Smith on the same day they're interviewing McDaniel - pretty obvious they're not planning to make him an offer on the spot. Bet he already has an unofficial offer from Cleveland.

Lamar is such a unique, transformative and valuable player. If you're going to include a player / emphasize their contentment with a new changing selection ... he's the kind of player you'd want to include.

Still not advisable. But if you're gonna do it ...

Also, given that level of involvement, sure sounds like Lamar got Harbaugh fired.

It was reported that a "star player" had gone over his head to the owner during the season with "concerns."

Was obviously him.

Right and he failed, and proved to be pretty poor at all of them. Im saying Harbaugh exhibits these qualities the best and you can speak with a level of certainty in how he will accomplish those qualities. Callahan obviously couldn't do that upon getting hired-- it was all conceptual. Even the playcalling.. All conceptual. What we learned is he was not good at any of that.

I could write exactly how Harbaugh will get after and accomplish those priorities. That makes him the ideal candidate

I'm not arguing that he did or did not. I am saying any candidate you hire - you will believe can do these things.  That list is a basic requirment list. Determine how well they do those things and if they can do them.. that's the interview process.

then they'll have added  preferences and individual requirements to them..  Some we'll know and some we wont... then they'll juggle all of those.

Those requirements you gave are not - do they have experience with this?  then hre them.

It happens a lot in the NBA where basically you have to keep the franchise player happy otherwise hit the road.
