I just feel like they have to get Davis Webb in some capacity.

Agreed. They should definitely interview him ala what we did with LaFleur.

I was think thinking Webb as OC under McCarthy, whom he would learn under and be the eventual replacement for.

But if some of these other HCs don’t plan on calling plays, then I think Webb would be a realistic OC candidate for several candidates.

My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

Would quality coordinators and position coaches reject other offers and wait around on guys like to Shula/Saleh to be hired? Would the promise of a future spot in early Jan. be enough for guys to potentially wait till late Jan or even Feb.?  Just posing the question, dk the answer.

I think several would if they believe in that candidate. Again, these conversations likely have already been had by prospective HCs with their contacts and connections through the league.

I think with Nagy not calling plays, he would have the advantage to land Kafka (big Ward proponent, knows Ward well) as OC. Kafka's preferred DC is known to be Martindale, who wants to just run his own defense without interference. Strong personality who could complement Nagy's style.

I could easily see a Nagy/Kafka/Martindale pairing - makes a ton of sense on so many levels.

Don’t love that OC/DC pairing. I don’t want to re-create the Giants of 2022/2023.

I dunno man, from where we sit, 9-7-1 and winning a playoff game doesn't sound so bad.

What’s your hold up on Shula as of now?

Just seems really high risk. I've watched a lot of his interviews, pressers, etc. and he just doesn't seem like a great leader to me. Obviously he knows football - but he's limited on experience and I just can't quite understand the hype. I see him as more of a scheme guru guy. He definitely has a good agent though!

Definitely a worthy candidate, but the fit just doesn't seem quite right. Could be totally wrong.

He comes across as a slightly less impressive version of Brian Callahan to me, just purely as a candidate, as a fan from the outside looking in. I do think he'll be interviewed, but he'd need to be very very impressive to get the job I think. In which case, I would of course trust Brinker/Borgonzi's judgement.

Bottom line for me:

I don’t particularly care who they hire for HC - they are the professionals with the most invested and more information than I have. As long as it isn’t someone who I totally hate like Belichick or Kiffin or some shit.

Personally, I’d be a little more excited from a fan perspective if it was someone other than Nagy just mainly for the novelty of it.

I do think though that, objectively, there’s a better than even likelihood they end up going with Nagy either as HC or as OC with a young defensive guy who really impresses them.

I think it will be Nagy. Wes Wesley just posted about it. He’s super close with Borgonzi, Reid, Mahomes. Said he wouldn’t call plays and would focus on leadership. He even helped Borgo with his interview here. IMO it’s a done deal unless someone WOWs AAS.
