Now for the kill me now names:

Mike Kafka

Doug Pederson

Mike Tomlin

John Harbaugh

Why Tomlin and Harbaugh? They’ve both grown stale and Reid is the rare exception where a long-tenured coach moves immediately to a new team and it goes well.  They both need gap years. Kafka is a joke and so is Pederson.

My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

I was just thinking “why would we hire this guy when the chiefs don’t even want him as OC? They’re just letting his contract lapse!”

But then that made me think “why would they extend him this past offseason if they already know Borgonzi is going to hire him?”

That plus the report that the Jets were out on Borgonzi because Nagy was his HC choice are in unison are worth thinking about

Tomlin has a large amount of influence in Pittsburgh, like Fisher did here in TN. You can’t tell me Tomlin hasn’t hand picked a lot of the QB’s or at the very least signed off on them. He’s certainly picked some trainwrecks for OC. Tomlin to me is a mixture of Fisher and Vrabel and that’s not a compliment

Like I said, I've thought for years that he's been overrated.  And it's entirely possible that he would want more influence than the Titans would be willing to give him.  If that's the case then no thanks.  If he would just be the coach and stay out of personnel decisions, though, I think he'd be a good fit.

and who do you think is responsible for that? You think Tomlin had no say in the QB room since Roethlisbrger retired? And you are just ignoring what they did with him at QB the last 10 years of his career.

See my response to AvgJoe.  If he's going to want personnel say then no thanks.

And the even bigger question - if he has no interest in calling plays, who does he hire as his OC? (Please no Kafka)

A Nagy extension by the chiefs would have happened probably mid 2025, right?  That would have been long before Callahan was fired and the Titans might hire him.

Well I was saying that if there was indeed an assumption Callahan was a dead man walking like others speculated

Options include: Bieniemy, Kafka, Lazor, Bleymaeier (teammate of Nagy and Veach at Delaware), Ragone

I personally think this team could use someone like Bieniemy at this stage - opposite coaching style of Nagy although Nagy has spoken fondly of him. Nagy mentioned he didn't have anyone in Chicago that would cover his blind spots, tell him straight when something was off track - Bieniemy seems like just that kind of person.

He's a hard-ass old school coach, but also brings energy. Pair him with someone like Ragone or Lazor to be the cerebral brainiac pass game coordinator to provide creative ideas, etc.

The team would be ecstatic to have Tomlin. Marks every box.

My only issue with Tomlin, as I've noted in this thread before, is his lack of developed coaches under him. I am of the mind that that is a HC responsibility

He's also had nothing at QB.  From a washed up Ben Roethlisberger (whom he somehow got to the playoffs in his last two seasons despite the fact that he was clearly done) to the Mitchell Trubisky/Kenny Pickett year that he somehow got to over .500 to the Kenny Pickett/Mason Rudolph season (another playoff year) to washed up Russell Wilson (again, a playoff year) and this year with washed up Aaron Rodgers, his offenses have had very little at the most important position.  Maybe he'd take a different approach with Ward?

Whether you like his approach or not (I've long though he was overrated and lousy with in-game decisions with the clock), he's clearly doing something right.  He's one of the few coaches in the last dozens of years that has been able to win consistently with subpar QB play.

I just think for this team and where they are as a franchise he'd be a perfect fit.

The Steelers FO has also been prettt good at building out talented rosters. So maybe Tomlin's accomplishments are overstated in this way.

Lol look how much ba you can just say to whatever narrative you want. In one post someone stated that Tomlin has been around long enough and has so much pull in the Steelers organization when it comes to personnel that he is responsible for the lack of QB. In this thread, a poster says that the Steelers front office puts together a great roster and doesnt attribute any of that to Tomlin

So which is it? Does he have a say in roster decisions or not? Or is it only the good ones that you decide hes not a part of?

So I'm assuming that guys like Stefanski, O'Connell aresafe and going to get more time? I was hoping there were serious rumors behind their teams potentially moving on.

Though I'm not sure why I care.  I don't really have any idea about these guys or how they'd work out.  Saleh seemed like a good choice to me early on but I have seemingly fizzled out on that choice faster then whoever is putting those odds together.
