that’s where I’m at. I don’t think even the best coaches win this game, but I do think we look more competent. That’s the biggest difference. We don’t even look competent at this point

Correct.  We just are depleted of talent. 

 

But Callahan has not put the players and staff in the best situation to succeed. The penalties and in game decisions is Callahan's flaws. 

 

What Callahan has failed at is the undevelopment of Levis and now Cam Ward. I understand these guys are young, but his specialty is developing QB's. If he can't develop Levis or Ward, then he needs to go.

 

The play calling junk is all BS.

In truth, the play calling was taken away because Callahan had too much on his plate and couldn't make in game decisions.  He should have kept the playcalling duties and had McCoy take over the game management but then it wouldn't make sense that he was head coach if you made that move.

Ward is not progressing under Callahan. None of the other shit really matters compared to that. He can grow into a game manager or become a better play caller, whatever that means, but if he's hindering Ward's development he needs to GEAUX.

We beat Houston under LaFluer with Gabbert, 3-4th string tackles and a worse group of receivers than we have now.

Yeah because that Texans team was absolutely awful.  

 

But to get beat by an absolute crap team 26-0 speaks volumes.  We're soooooop far away from being competitive.  I'm talking 5-7  years.

It was maddening to watch Pittsburgh throw nothing but short, quick passes and have so much success against a great defense.  They don't have a good OL, their passing game is clearly limited, yet they have no problem giving their QB easy throws.  Meanwhile, everything looks so difficult in this offense.  Defenders swarm the ball on every single play.  Every schemed throw is DOA, as if we have a mole in the organization sending practice tape to our opponents.

My mistake, I forgot that Houston was 11-5 and had a top 5 defense that year.  Absolutely terrible.

Those Kurt Warner criticisms in preseason, criticizing route designs, are echoing a little right now.
