This is what I'm talking about when ppl complain about Callahan. He called an RPO screen. Cam correctly read blitz and threw the screen.

 

This was actually a very good call. If they don't blitz or they're ready for it, hand it off. He read the blitz. Could've been a huge play. Execution fucked it up.

 

And then fans who don't know what they're talking about complain about the incompletion.

Not really sure, but didn't someone say Cam audibled into that screen play, but the WRs messed it up?

I cant remember if he did. Regardless if he or Callahan called the play it was on one of chig, lockett or the 3rd guy i cant remember.

Right, even if Cam audibled to it, it's on the staff that one of these guys had no idea what he was doing.  Not like that wasn't going on all game with guys needing to be moved by the rookie QB...

Thats not what I said. Also, you know some movement on plays is completely normal, its not like cam was ushering playering into their appropriate spot on every play.

That'd be really good of he did. The type of offense Callahan wants to run gives a ton of control and flexibility to the QB. It requires great communication though bc of this exact type of thing.

 

This is his years working with Manning and Stafford.

It's on the players to know their play book. Coaches install, players study. High schoolers know their playbook. These are paid professionals.

This is  classic staff vs management issue. I am in a lot of situations where a C-suite will be upset with something a staff person does at the ground level.  Is it the directors or managers fault (were they trained, communicated to well, has good history of accountability, etc) or was it the staff person's fault. Did they know all the right things and still do something stupid?  

 

In this situation, fans-  we can never know.   It could literally be either.   

 

We'll know what we have by mid season.  Very few think we're competing for the playoffs this season.. that means we're going to lose a lot.  The expectations are set based on the talent level we have.  I mean we had two fourth round picks starting on offense and our top, highly paid, and highly anticipated WR dropped several key passes.... So yeah.  That's what losing looks like. 

 

Patience is the right answer right now. Look and see where we are at midseason.   Take no single game- including this one- as a reason to stand on a soapbox or declare conclusions yet.

I'm pretty pissed that Callahan called for a Pollard fumble, 8 drops, and our Tackles to get beat like drums. Horrible game planning.
