Green wasn’t drafted because of his off the field issues, not his playing ability

I’d have just drafted Green, but I understand why they wouldn’t

I get it and same. But drafting a huge projection on a developmental player that early irks me.

We could have chased older vets on 1-2 year deals and filled the edge room with more ability for a couple seasons than we have now without drafting any edge this season.

opens the draft up for BPA and not having to deal with a low probability developmental prospect.

Femi projects to be an average situational rusher that is decent at pass d and has the size ( but not experience) to be good at setting the edge. I think that's a guy we can get every offseason in FA

Femi was my least favorite draft pick. Any time you take an inexperienced, project pass rusher with little sack production you're asking for trouble. I did miss on Odafeh Oweh though so we'll see. I see Femi's upside being similar to Derrick Morgan. High effort, high character fan favorite that plays extremely hard and gives you solid at best play. Very good edge setter that can get you some pressures but struggles to convert them into sacks unless he has a stud on the other side. At least that's what his tape looked like to me. We'll see though. I don't like to write guys off this early into their career.

I think that's exactly what they want in a number 2 edge rusher though. Next year they likely draft an edge high in the draft who will be your star outside rusher.

It’s hardly the same when Femi has barely played the position. He was an inside LB a year ago with no edge experience. He isn’t just some athlete who failed to produce in college.

agree with this post.  Morgan is Femi.

I'll be the first to say, I don't follow/ know the defense much at all, but my  hope is that Femi could line up at edge, or as an off-ball linebacker, depending on the personel and the packages called.. He might be a pass rusher from a variety of spots, depending on the play call..

David Bailey! Come on down! You are the next contestant on the Edge is Right!

But if not him there's maybe TJ Parker or Reuben Bain.

They're all pass rushers, but some are better equipped to get to the QB and others are better in run defense.

Along those line I always hate hearing about a person's character as justification. Seems to be a recurring theme with rebuilding GMs. If it was me, I'd build a team like the Gators and have a Netflix show 10 years later lol
