It's one of the best when you don't see it for years. The Tampa Bay creamsicles were equally maligned in their time. Now, just like the Oilers look, they are considered en vogue. The reality is that the Oilers look will get old very fast when we see it every week.  Nobody and I mean nobody wanted to keep any element of the Oilers brand when they moved here.

I'm already nostalgic for two tone blue.

Man. Tonight is the last night this little baby will be our logo. You’ve served us well for almost 30 years little fella.    🫡

I'd make a few changes:

That'll only grow. The feedback among Titans fans seems to be 50/50. Generally that doesn't bode well for a rebrand when it's not overwhelmingly popular out of the gate. People will eventually want what the color scheme they were familiar with for 25 + years.

To be honest, I think it is just you and a handful of other people trying to make this a big deal.  Just wear the old jerseys if you want.  There won't be an oil derrick on the new set, so you don't have to crash out.

More tangential than clever to me. The horse feels forced.

I like the idea. The execution is peak 1990's level garish and over produced.

Nah, buddy. There are the vocal minorities on either end of the spectrum. The ones who do not want it changed and those who made such a stink about how ugly the "thumbtack" was and how plain the navy blue. The rest are casuals who don't really gaf either way.

The ones acting superior about how much better the new shit is than the old shit are just sitting high on the hog and talking down their nose because they finally got their pissy ass way about shit.

oh yeah, for the time period it was on point. I can appreciate it but still think it was forced  and hokey.  Like someone in corporate said "you know what we need, an animal mascot"... or with the titans - "this logo needs some pop, add some flames. Make em off center because that's the trend"

My logo preferences are lasting, classic... iconic - almost stoic. Simplicity and balance are often pillars to that style.

Kuharsky spoke the truth there: these "classic" logos (Green Bay, Steelers, etc.) aren't great logos, they are just old. Fans like the teams and the history, not the logos.

Lots of fans like the old Oilers uniforms because of nostalgia for the Oilers. As someone who did not care about the Oilers, I always thought the oil derrick was bland and dumb.

Now, I totally understand Amy wanting to capitalize on Oilers nostalgia. Nashville is full of transplants and college football fans. We are one of the most popular spots for out of state fans to visit. Between these realities and the Titans sucking for so long, and being in a small market, it's been hard to gain a lot of new fans. So it makes sense from a business perspective to go with nostalgia to sell new merchandise and the new stadium.

But that is why I called the decision corporate. They are quite literally going away from the almost all history from Tennessee's version of the team, including a different color scheme and any connection with original mythology and marketing. Circular logos and known for being easier for branding and usage (literally is a button). Classic, timeless branding to make fans remember the Titans  Oilers.

I get what you're saying but I actually think the flaming thumbtack is classic. I could easily see it in the 1960s.

I have no problem with stoic either, if it's done correctly. Hell I was advocating for the Parthenon to be our logo. What could be more stoic than that?

The flaming thumbtack would absolutely be loved and "classic" if the Titans were an older franchise with a longer winning tradition.
