Non Titans Related but Eli Manning-HOF discussion

I didn't see a topic on this so I figured I'd start it.  I was thrilled that Eli Manning did not get into the HOF.  He was maybe above average, if that, and had the two great runs in the postseason with lots of luck sprinkled in.  He shouldn't even be considered by anyone to be a Hall of Famer.  I know he'll get in eventually, probably next year, but the fact that he wasn't a first ballot Hall of Famer means that at least voters are paying attention.

He did league the league times, though!  In INTs.

Damn, Brick. You should probably lay low for awhile.

If he wasn’t a Manning I’m not even sure he’d have been a first round pick, let alone the top pick in the draft.   Eli Manning threw some of the ugliest interceptions I’ve ever seen.  Does a

I can think of probably 10 QBs without even making much of an effort who have no shot to get in who have a better case than Eli Manning.  It's a joke that he's even considered.

Going off and winning superbowl as a 6 seed two times (against the GOAT) is pretty unique. Beating 16-0 pats is a once in the history of the NFL accomplishment too.

I’m not saying he should get in but he’s a pretty unique edge case where he elevated his play for long stretches when it mattered most, while many HOF qbs shrunk under similar circumstances. His second Super Bowl run, he played at an elite level and beat a pretty amazing pats team.

edit: he’s like the Jimmy Butler of the NFL, except if Jimmy had won both times against the Warriors at the peak of their powers.

Don’t see the comparison.  Jimmy a better regular season player by far than Eli. And he’s a pain in the ass to deal with , he just forces himself off teams for various reasons.  Jimmy is more like TO.

I  will agree that Super Bowl play is probably the thing that will get Eli in even if he a marginal case. I hate that’s a determining factor but it is.

If you want someone with a pretty average career but 2 great playoff runs, then you better put Jim Plunkett in if you want to put Eli Manning in.

Never a top 5 QB.  No All Pro 1st or 2nd teams.  No he's not a HOFer even though the moron voters will probably vote him in anyway.

Eight games, some of which were mediocre, should not get a player into the Hall of Fame.  What would've happened had Joe Flacco taken the Browns to the Super Bowl and won last year?  Would he be in as well?  Why isn't Jim Plunkett in?  Because his name isn't Jim Manning?

The only reason he's being considered is "He's a Manning."

People have already anointed Arch as next Great College QB.  He's in the 11th grade.

Fine by me. The game is not about stats to QBs, it's about superbowls. And no. Eli's career is not average, it is glorious.

Eli Manning threw some of the ugliest interceptions I’ve ever seen.  Does anyone remember the one against the Titans that he threw in the end zone with his left hand?
