Callahan Interview

Recommended Posts

Brinker said Levis will compete for the starting job.  That clearly indicates that as of today that their intent is to keep him on the roster.  What else they do remains to be seen.

Oh man he absolutely despises Levis

He described Cam Ward pretty clearly

decision making, timing and accuracy...three things that don't describe Levis

And the head coach is basically saying Levis can't do what he requires from his QB.

Brinker is higher in the chain of command.  In addition, his direct statement is the most recent from anyone in the organization about Levis future here.  Callahan also hasn't directly said that Levis won't be here, recently or ever.

My post isn't a defense of Levis.  It's a defense of Brinker's statement.

With a single QB on the roster what do you expect Brinker to say it is a vastly different story when they add a veteran QB in March.

We've had this discussion before.  Brinker could have been vague or deflected the question.  Instead he was directly explicit.  For the time being, take the guy at his word and stop trying to spin it to suit yourself.

The whole "Bring in a veteran to mentor the young QB" is way overblown. I'm not saying a veteran QB can't be a positive, but if the Titans sign one it will be because they think he can help them win games. Not so he can babysit the young QB.

So you think Brinker is going to come out and voice that they are done with Levis and kill off any small remaining trade value Levis has left that is simply not what teams do.

Levis is nothing more than a placeholder that the head coach is clearly done with and will be shipped out of here when they have had a chance to replace him.

You think Daniels has the same season he does without Mariota being in the same room as him sometimes?

I've answered that first question upthread and multiple times.  Brinker could have been vague or deflected.

Instead Brinker was explicit and direct........Levis will compete for the starting spot.

It remains to be seen whether Levis is done here this year or is the #2 guy,  jmo there.  Or they could change their mind and ship him out earlier.  But as of today, if you take Brinker at his word, the plan is for Levis to be here.

Borgonzi has referenced how beneficial Alex Smith was in Mahomes development.

Blaine Bishop intimated that discussions concerning a trade were out there.. he spoke about how Levis was drafted to be a downfield threat to complement Henry in a run first offense.. how he might fit as a backup for several teams, and that he expected him to be traded.. I posted in another thread that the three teams most likely to look upon him as a backup were Tampa Bay, Arizona, and the Chargers, based on their run first philosophy..

lol does anyone think that they will leave Levis as the 3rd qb.  Because he’s not  backup qb material.  And they will have another starting level guy (maybe 2 in there).

Of course Brinker is going to be complimentary if he wants to get any value at all for him.

It means nothing.

While someone is on the team, they talked about as if they will stay on the team. There are a few exceptions.

whether there's any truth to that or not, you know you can't bring that argument here and expect it to get taken seriously.
