As a non-play calling OC with a great QB carrying the load, I'm sure it was.  As a play calling HC, he left a lot of meat on the bone and the lack of Levis' development didn't do much to make him out to be some QB guru.

Id argue levis left alot of that meat on the bone.

Brian Callahan is vastly overated.  He is already on the hot seat.  If he does not win 8 games I bet he is gone

They both did.  The fact the offense was only slightly better with Rudolph wasn't great and some of his situational play calls were awful.

Brinker also somewhat put him on notice in the statement confirming he was being retained talking about how he was expected to work on improving things/grow as a coach.....It sure seemed like he got the first year pass that Carthon did.

 

If Ward comes in and struggles/offense is bad, hard to see Callahan surviving that.

Not sure after last year.  Being tied to Burrow will help any 'offensive mind.'  You would think that a QB guru could get more out of Levis than Cro-Magnon Vrabel did the year before.  But no.  Levis had one of the worst QB performances that I've seen.

Callahan definitely got the first year HC pass.  This year will tell more about whether he's HC material or not.  In fairness to him, going from a non-play calling OC to a play calling HC is a big leap.

You're probably underestimating the shittiness of Mason Rudolph a bit here. I'm trying to remember the bad play calls, I remember discussing them but can't place anything egregious. 
 

Will agree though that he didn't show anything special as a play caller.

There was actual improvement in Levis' game last year outside of the dumbass plays ...but the inability to not make dumbass plays started to creep in his head and you could see his confidence deteriorating to where he was second guessing and he eventually forgot how to showcase any of the good parts of his game. 
 

He's likely beyond repair here or maybe anywhere.. Kinda like Malik. Needs a change of scenery and time to learn to look any better. (Not that I think Malik is any good, just that he looked better elsewhere).

Yet Rudolph regressed big time from what he did with the Steelers. 

 

The play call on 4th down vs Buffalo where momentum shifted.  The goal line sequence vs the Lions where they threw fade passes over and over.   Those come to mind.  

 

The point really is that just laying it ALL on Levis is not fair.

I think searching for the actual improvement in his game from 2023 to 2024 was miniscule at best.  Maybe the accuracy was slightly better? His decision making was equally awful - it's just that INT's dropped in 2023 weren't being dropped in 2024.

 

The good parts of his game are what 99% of QB's in the NFL do - hitting wide open receivers downfield.  Even that was scattershot in 2023 after the ATL game.
