Drew Allar - still a draft possibility?

Experience not talent is the main question mark on Allar ideally you would want a larger sample size of starting experience before using a top 3 pick on a QB.

Also something I posted last week in another thread when Brugler raised the possibility of Allar still potentially declaring for the draft is the draft maths have changed for Allar since he made his initial declaration, Darnold looks more likely to stay at the Vikings, Rodgers looks more likely to retire leaving the Jets looking for a QB, also one final piece his home town team the Browns now own the #2 pick.

Allar could return to Penn St and play himself into the #1 pick next year or now he could enter the 2025 draft with the knowledge it is highly likely the lowest he would go is #2 to the Browns.

Ward is still the only QB option

Allar may end up being a good QB, but the idea that he's a better prospect than Ward that just needs another year in CFB is laughable.

He has a 53/9 TD/INT ratio in his career at just 20 years old.  Not exactly comparable to Levis or Hackenberg.

Great. Now watch him play. He doesn’t look anything like an NFL QB outside of stature and mobility.

The Josh Allen Effect at work once again.

I like Allar, but i think when I go back and rewatch Ward I'd end up liking Ward more. He plays loose, but he has anticipation, accuracy, and I actually believe the over the top confidence he plays with.

I’m loving Ward, if we don’t trade back. I hope he is the pick

I'm a Penn State fan and have watched every Allar start. He is not at all worth 1st round pick yet. and its a big if to him declaring as he already stated that he intends to stay.

LOL a penn state fan would want him to stay because they have literally no QB options since the back up went into the portal. It is a self preservation take.

You watch the Tennessee Titans and Florida State.  How would you know what an NFL QB looks like?

He looks pretty good to me

He completed 2 passes beyond 4 yards in the 1st half. One was thrown in the dirt and his receiver dug it out. The other was a fantastic catch around great coverage. Some double clutches on late throws.

You look at his stats from his first two years and see a completion percentage in the high 50s. Then it jumps up to over 67 this year. You think, oh, he must have gotten a lot better. Then you watch the games and see the offense is kid gloves.

He looks like a create-a-player. Plays like Ethan Albright. He’s also just a true junior. He can get better, but right now it’s purely a “he’s big, tall, throws the ball far,” projection.

Mahomes is 3rd lowest in intended air yards per pass, and throws into tight coverages less frequently than all but 1 QB.  His passes traveled an average of 6 yards through the air or less during the last two SBs.

If it's okay for Mahomes to be treated with kid gloves, it's okay for other QBs.
