Number9
I watched Titans@Bears last night. Caleb threw some passes on the scripted plays that were 5yds+ off target. #1 pick. I hope the Titans fanbase doesn't expect Cam to be lighting up the league day 1, especially with our pass catchers and a rebuilt OL.

I think they were hoping for Josh Allen. Guy with freak measurables. That's why it's called boom or bust. He certainly falls on the bust side. It was an awful pick, but I think it made more sense than guys like Lance, Daniel Jones, etc. Daniel Jones doesn't even have an NFL arm in my view. If you're going to bust, bust shooting for the stars at least. Edited April 1, 2025 by socaltitan

If you're going to bust, bust shooting for the stars at least. It made no sense at #5. He was objectively bad at Florida. He literally was lost in their offense...completely inaccurate with no idea what he was looking at on the defense. Florida couldn't wait to get rid of him. This is a guy you take a flyer on in round six (if that), not with the fifth pick in the draft. Callidus, and OILERMAN

NashvilleNinja
Ward's percentages on short to intermediate passes should excite even his biggest doubters. How many of the failed Titans QBs of the last 15-20 years seemed allergic to the dump off or intermediate throws? Sure, but the employment roles of Home Depot and UPS are full of guys that can run fast and jump high. Those are guys you take late, not early. Ballard was (is) a fool. One thing i did find kinda interesting was almost all of his picks came in the middle of the field where he was also most successful. It didnt look to be because of volume either. As far as his passing chart the only thing really concerning is his stats are garbage outside the numbers(hashes?) over 20 yards. Idk if he really had great ball winners outside but maybe the stat accounts for stuff like that. Definitely something that needs to be improved though Callidus

As he's avoiding the rush, he's not flying around lost just trying to do something. He only has about 460yds rushing in his 5-year career. He's looking for targets. He knows where his targets should be. He also leads receivers when he throws on the run. He's trying to make a play within the play design. AR got a small fraction of coverage, film reviews Cam has received. It started with no way this kid's a #1 draft pick, both are round 2 at best. Trade out and get a haul because he's not worth the first pick. Once they were forced to watch film to make their reviews, it changed. From 2025 rd 2 at best he moving up in last year's draft. Right now he's a #4 pick in 2024. By April who knows how high he's going to get drafted last year.

Yeah, just looking at the numbers completely separated by the film, that mildly shocked me as well. If I had the time, I'd like to see those picks over the intermediate to deep middle. I'm very curious because that doesn't follow the curve you'd expect of success & range - like a very right, positive skewed polynomial with a nasty tail.
