His accuracy is only high the last few weeks because he takes a sack instead of throwing into tight windows. He could lead the league in pass completion percentage and he’d also lead the league in sacks.

 

Also, I never staked my flag. I liked Levis early on and had high hopes. He’s just not very good and you guys are exposing yourself by only looking at stat lines.

Yeah , people are going to say we are haters .  But the sacks are a terminal thing at this point .  Unless, he turns that around along with throwing into tight windows, it’s generally a lost cause.

He’s still getting sacked like crazy since he came back as a starter.  Difference is he actually hit some big plays this week.

I wouldn’t say I’d call anyone against starting him next year haters. I don’t particularly like him. 
 

However, as of THIS moment, the alternatives don’t look great. College QBs played like ass. Darnold will cost a lot and who knows how well he will do down the stretch.

I wasn't pointing to you specifically.  And I was finished with Levis early on. But he is not going to turn around every aspect of his game magically. He should learn to throw the ball away instead of a sack. But he was throwing int's earlier this year so taking a sack is an improvement. 

If he can improve on just throwing it away instead of a sack, more progress. Give him the rest of the season to see what can happen.

Levis at least has a high ceiling and can make every throw.  He takes a few sacks, but also probably plays with less clean pockets than most other QBs in the league.  These announcers today were slurping all over Stroud while Levis was outplaying him.   I would rather try to go with Levis than some back up journey man who you know can't lead you to a Superbowl..

The problem is that as flawed as Levis is and how that limits his ceiling, the alternatives are pretty bad at this point.   The odds of him improving his pocket presence, feel for the rush, and football IQ seem bleak but if he plays like he did today, you can at least have some positive plays to counteract that.

 

The real key to me from today is whether they can build on this and play better football on a consistent basis.  The win was great - divisional against a hated rival - but they made a ton of self inflicted mistakes that they have been doing all year.  Big ST returns, pick six, unnecessary sacks, etc. 

 

That said, I'd rather be bitching about a win with issues than another ugly loss.

That’s a terrible argument. Doesn’t matter, you can’t expect Callahan to work with this for another year. Obviously, you don’t cut him, but you try to find an alternative in free agency and draft a potential QBOF. I’m not a fucking scout and neither are you.

It’s just like how Mariota could never read a defense once they started playing two high safeties on him.

For all Levis' flaws, every other AFC South QB has regressed as well.

 

Stroud has been a massive disappointment this season and the Titans defense did a great job against him today in his home stadium.

Lawrence is a dud on a massive contract and is likely to get cut in the offseason

Richardson is a gimmick that has shown zero signs that he is the QB of the future.

 

There was a bunch of handwringing about us having the worst QB in the division, and if Levis plays like he has the last few weeks, he is definitely not that.  Modest improvement (either through Levis or his replacement) and we can have a QB advantage in our division.
