She won’t have Congress, so no!

Do you think Cory Booker is more of a lefty than Bernie Sanders? Or are you willing to admit voting records alone don’t necessarily tell the whole picture (obviously true).

Of course it’s not the only data point that matters but without any better metric presented….

Lots of Americans are serious about beating Trump.

This is absolutely the correct tone to take and I'm glad they're finally calling things like they are and not beating around the bush. His behavior is egregious on so many levels. Just fucking say it

Trump praised commie Putin for the prisoners swap. He'd rather suck up to Putin than celebrate Americans coming home.

I wouldn't say it's a "metric" but to actually understand people and their views you  have to read and/or listen to things and then place people where they belong.

Another example on the other side, it would even be a mistake to say that JD Vance and Rand Paul are similar types of conservatives even though they're right next to each other on this other sites rating system. Paul is more of a libertarian/tea party type and Vance is a new school national conservative type. If all you do is look at votes/bills sponsored you're going to lose a ton of important information about someone's ideology.

Even absent other "metrics" (which IMO this topic requires more than a chart to really understand), you shouldn't use these kinds of metrics to base your entire opinion on.

It's pretty funny that only the right are complaining as if this wasn't the massive amount of Dems wishes and the President made his own choice. No one forced him out.

There worried about free and fair elections......lol

Now time for them to get back to gerrymandering, voter suppression and pretending the election was stolen!

I’d guess Dems spent the last 3 weeks working behind the scenes uniting most of the party behind Harris in the inevitability that Biden dropped out. They were so freaked out about Trump possibly winning that they didn’t want to risk a divided party going into the general election.

Much like no one wanted to challenge Biden as the incumbent and risk weakening him, no one wants to take the blame for challenging Harris for the nomination if she ends up losing.

Yeah and I would 100% assume that the debates AOC was talking about were happening too. A lot of people probably did want to have an open primary and not to have it be Harris. I'd be surprised if those discussions did not happen.

Ultimately the idea to just solidify around Harris won out probably because the mini primary was too messy, the timeline is too short, the logistical problems of anyone other than Harris building up the campaign infrastructure that she should just inherit from Biden made it too hard to pull off.

Roy Cooper is an interesting option, he and Harris know each other well.

Others would be Josh Shapiro, Mark Kelly, Andy Beshear.

I have a very educated friend who has worked in the NC political world at a high level for decades. FWIW, she describes Cooper as introverted and not charismatic.

Y’all will lose Gaza votes if you run a ticket with Shapiro.  Can’t run on identity politics and betray the id-pol voters.

That's actually a legit concern about Shapiro in Mich, imo.

Fact: every President has won without the Gaza vote..... and the Hungarian vote and  the German vote and the vote of every other nation on the globe because it is a USA citizen vote LOL

It’s a very real thing.  Even a few Dem commentators have pointed it out as undesirable as it is to talk about.  Shapiro is a good candidate but for all the reasons the party kinda had to go all in on Harris there is a risk putting him on the ticket.

In this case-  they may be right. Its not the "Gaza" vote, you have to worry about. Its Gen z and millennials who really reacted negatively to US full throated support of Israel.     Harris distanced herself from Biden's strategy there by not attending Netanyahu’s speech to Congress.   I'm not sure she stay distant well with Shapiro as VP.

Most of the VP options I hear about come with some significant flaws. (Not that VP choices usually have that large of an effect, though)
