He serves on several committees too that I think would help shore up what many will see as Harris weaknesses. He’s on the armed services committee, energy, and joint economics. I really think that’s what Dems have to sell… how is your economy going to be better than Trump’s? How are you going to make housing affordable, bring down inflation, create wage growth, and encourage business growth?

Trump is a failed businessman who ran up the deficit, created instability for business, and drove prices up by pulling out of economic agreements and unnecessary tariffs. Hammer him on those points and show how you will be different.

Have a real plan for the border that’s not just let everyone in and de facto citizenship for everyone already here.

Show an endgame for Israel and Ukraine.

Present strength and unity and present a message that welcomes people who find themselves without a political party that represents them now that MAGA has basically destroyed the GOP.

Yeah, I think Kelly is probably the strongest pick. I like Andy Beshear too as a way to hammer Vance, but I don't necessarily think you should pick a tactic just to hone in on him (as I find him to be the kind of person that will give people the ick).

Lots of Americans are serious about beating Trump.

This is absolutely the correct tone to take and I'm glad they're finally calling things like they are and not beating around the bush. His behavior is egregious on so many levels. Just fucking say it

Trump praised commie Putin for the prisoners swap. He'd rather suck up to Putin than celebrate Americans coming home.

Not to mention Gabby Giffords offsets the "assassination attempt" thing to a smaller degree. She got shot in the head at point blank range and survived - whereas Trump got winged on the tip of his ear.

Kelly and Giffords will play well in the suburbs everywhere and that's where the election will be decided.

In addition, they founded American for Responsible Solutions which is an organization that wants to enact background checks and red flag laws.  There is a national constituency for this and it's the opposite of what Trump wants.  So there is a contrast.

Bottom line is the pick needs to help in swing states and Beshear doesn't do that. Whitmer is positioned for 2028 if Harris loses or 2032 if she wins. Shapiro has issues in MI but could help deliver PA. Kelly will help with moderates and independents plus AZ. Cooper is boring but may help NC if the campaign things its obtainable. The Harris campaign has to make some tough decisions as winning PA, MI, and WI is the easiest path but there are serious concerns she can win those voters. If she can shore up AZ and GA, it opens up being able to lose MI and or WI. PA is a must have though.

Yeah I like Kelly the best for sure. I just think Beshear would also do well in that role. Still a lot of time.

I saw a report last night the Trump campaign is regretting the Vance pick already

I said immediately that Vance added nothing to the ticket. I really don’t know why Trump picked him other than to appeal to Peter Thiel for massive donations.

Another thing about Mark Kelly - he has been engaged and strong on the border, which is a perceived weakness of Harris.

Wasn't he the one during the Trump Admin that came up with an interactive and layered approach to border security?

These are the best two options for sure.

Shapiro is the better political athlete. Kelly has the better profile. Both from swing states.

Interesting. They must think PA needs a boost and will risk the potential fallout in MI if Shapiro is the guy. I prefer Kelly to be honest.
