I remember people in this thread trying to tell me Latham was a terrible pick after I watched his college film and liked him.  🤔 Telling me he couldn’t handle speed rushes and would be a holding machine.

I’m too lazy to go back and look who it was now lol

I said his lateral agility was a questionmark, but i definitely said he was a flag magnet. I went over the top with that one. And he is better than my wildest dreams. He was my tackle 5 so I wasnt exactly about to jump off a bridge when we picked him though.

The left side of the OL could be dominant

You guys remember when we took the most pro-ready offensive lineman from Alabama with a HOF o-line coach on the staff in 2013?   That was fun.

That is a horrible message to send to the fan base that your top 10 pick may fail at the position you hope he plays.

Latham has played LT, but when he got to Bama they had a good LT so he moved over.

Highschool hardly counts. I played rb and te in highschool and my o ly hope of making a team would be as a punter.

Hardly a good anecdote but seriously though, joe alt was a te in college if you want a better non joke version of this.

Old School disagrees, but most NFL teams put their best rushers on the left side.  This is why our RTs look so awful.  I hope we draft a LT and move him back over.

I am kinda in that camp. I think the diffrence between left and right is negligible, however i cant look past whichever side is your qbs blind side should have the best pass blocker(s).

I’ve spent years arguing with Oldschool about right tackles lol

Things have certainly changed in recent years. Sewell & Alt were considered the 2 best LT’s to come out in a long time & both were drafted to play RT. Teams used to often play LT’s inside or at RT their rookie year, but now you have teams with established LT’s taking these guys to play RT for the foreseeable future.

Then again Sewell & Alt were also the 7th & 5th picks so they also could’ve been BPA situations where the teams felt they couldn’t pass them up…..

I'll raise my hand on this as well. I liked him as a prospect at RT, not at the position they took him.

He's seemingly proven he's at least a competent LT in this league early in his rookie season.

He's also not getting a ton of help in terms of chipping from skill spots. Although, Sko getting healthy and progressing covers some of the outside inside issues - I'm assuming, never played O-line.

Either way, I'm looking more wrong and I couldn't be happier. And watching him run block is pretty damn fun.

We comprised last year. LT is still more important but RT has closed the gap in recent years.

I always thought you underrated RT but you’re definitely correct that it’s ridiculous how some feel we have to be completely set at every spot on the line. A decent offense should be able to work around a bad RT…..

I personally think it’s been that way for like a decade now but it’s nice that people are catching up 😉

The Titans had to take a franchise LT. As bad as the offense is without a true capable LT they wouldn't even be able to think about executing an NFL passing game. They should have a taken a QB(McCarthy) but sinc ethey foolishly went with Levis a LT was an automatic pick.

Sewell will end up at LT. Harbaugh is just a moron for talking Alt with Slater on the roster. Should have drafted Nabers. While RT is more important than it was 10 years ago, its still a total waste to take one top 10 who won't move to LT at some point.
