Derrick Henry is still an elite back.

It’s also worth noting that Henry led the NFL in rushing attempts and had zero fumbles….something hasn’t happened in almost 40 years.   The last guy to do this was Gerald Riggs way back in 1985.

Look at all those defenders chasing down a rolling tomato can!

Derrick Henry sure seems to get a lot of those "anybody could do it, perfectly blocked plays" ever since he was declared a bum by message board illuminati.    Luckiest back in history, I gue

The issue with Henry is and has always been that you have to cater your offense to his specific skill set.  ..

You really don't. You just can't sub him out after second down every time.

He's been one of the best pass blocking backs in the league for a long while now. Most the other backs aren't catching passes on routes that Henry can't run. They aren't even running them 98% of the time.

Taking him out on 3rd with the hopes of 1-2 times per year of getting that mismatch is silliness. The mismatch gained on pass downs by the defense going slightly bigger because Henry is in the game helps the receivers... and if they go smaller, it's easier for him to stiff arm a DB than an LB.

I don't believe the "agenda driven" thing.  But he did play behind a terrible line here last year, but many pointed out his flaws. He wasn't taking anything to the house as he used to do. We were spoiled by him. He used to run 22.50 mph or so, Doubtful he can do that now, but you of all people know that after 28 athletes decline.  I guess my agenda was him going to the Ravens. Anyone but them....

Not sure he was ever tracked that fast. But he did get over 22 one year - just barely.

None of that matter though because he still had the speed for breakaways last year. He just got tripped up or they had an angle.

I'm going to give Henry some credit......

Dallas has the worst run defense in the league by far. Going back to the GB playoff loss they are allowing 2.5 yards before contact!(LOL).

Even though Henry was 3rd in yards per carry running vs Dallas, even though when the Ravens were trying to put the game away winning 28-6 Henry's last 7 carries of the game went for 21 yards and they almost blew the game....

I still did not think Tomato Can could have a game like that against a historically bad defense. I tip my hat! He can still pad stats against the worst run defenses, I was wrong.

BTW, I'd like to know how many big games he's had against the dead last ranked defense over his career?

The ravens were top a top Rush D and he ran all over them in the playoffs and regualr season.  You guys are flat morons.

His OL sucked for the last 4 yrs and he still put up elite numbers.

Henry beat Tom Brady too and the Pats dynasty by himself in the playoffs. Vrabels only two playoff wins here were both games Henry had 200+ rushing yards in, why is this board hating on one of the best RBs of all time? Strangeeee

Just a pixel. Do you remember how many times we screamed because they ran him into the line for 0-2 yards all year? We were all mad, but not really at him. Still, a back like Spears or Pollard who is lighter and more agile, has a chance to break some runs off to the outside, but due to Henry's size that isn't happening.

Yeah that answer doesn't work for me. I'm all set here.

I think overall Henry had a good year and is still an above average to good runner of the ball

After the Texans game, I thought he was done. He had stacked up a few pretty bad weeks but I think he's got back to where he was earlier in the season the past 3 weeks

Overall he had a pretty solid year, if a bit up and down

Spears is the better overall player and it's beyond obvious the right move is to go ahead with him and a bigger back, preferably a pass protector and good all around player

That said, Henry won't have any problems finding a job with a fairly significant workload imo, maybe to a contender on a small deal

I could see him being a direct replacement to Gus Edwards in Baltimore. Henry/Mitchell/Hill is a pretty well balanced backfield

I could see Henry have a year or two there with 700/800 yards and 10 TDs

Nailed it
