I don’t think it makes sense at all, personally. Why would they choose to intentionally cut seating capacity? There’s no real advantage in not having an extra 5000-10000 seats to sell. Not unless you are planning on having a shitty team where you have unsold seats constantly.

We don't have that...all our tickets are sold to opposing teams.

NFL games have been notoriously harder to sell out in recent years where so many people prefer to watch the high quality tv product from their homes, esp post covid. I was reading that they want to have common areas that are like in-stadium tailgate areas, more luxury seating, more space for seating, etc.

The size, scope and cost of the stadium has to fit and be funded by the revenue streams they have identified.

The state of Tenn. has already announced and budgeted how much they will contribute (500M).  AAS is also only willing to do so much (800M(.  The City of Nashville isn't going to use general revenue funds (tax dollars). The City is going to use bonds that are funded by the sales tax revenue generated on site and the hotel/motel increase.  Maybe a few other minor revenue streams but the City has a pretty good idea what these streams will generate.

That's why there are compromises in the scope and amenities of the stadium and they aren't building a second Jerry's world.

The pitch to the Metro council members and their constituents will be that Metro is getting out from under the future maintenance costs (1.8B)  and the bond funding will be paid for by the new money generated.

The stadium must have a minimum of 70,000 fixed seats, including club and fixed suite seating, during regular season operations. (Source: "NFL's lengthy list of requirements for Super Bowl host city leaked". Sports Illustrated)

That would make sense albeit I could certainly see the NFL saying one thing to get a new stadium and than not giving them one.  Not that I care one way or the other.

Unlikely they would do that as it would be problematic for encouraging future Owners/Cities hoping to build new stadiums and getting a Super Bowl.

I think the standing order the last decade or so is that you get a SB with a new stadium but I don't think Buffalo will.  In the rotation is a bit hyperbolic and largely dependent on not fucking up try #1.

Nashville was heavily praised for their handling of the NFL Draft don't think they would have issues hosting a Super Bowl if/when the time came.

Both large scale events.

The Super Bowl in LA had an estimated 150,00 visitors the NFL Draft in Nashville 600,00 (over 3 days)

Of course. Nashville more than capable of hosting SB.  Bud’s bent….
