Just another way for the wealthy to continue to control society. They can't allow this kind of social mobility. Instead they have to burden down people with debts they can never repay as they tell them their whole lives they can't get a good paying job without it.

Yep. In reality the country is desperate for trade workers not more people with engineering degrees. They stopped teaching trades in high schools and focus on making kids go to college because “that’s the only way to make a living”. It’s complete bullshit. You can go to trade school for a year and most of the time graduate with a job offer. I am a Glassblower full time, but went to Welding school because I wanted to expand into metal art and wanted to learn to fabricate things out of metal. I graduated top of my class and had offers right out of school to weld pipelines that paid 60-75k a year starting pay(before overtime) with full benefits. Every person that was in my class was able to get a job straight out of school if they wanted to. Some less paying than others but everyone had offers and were pretty much debt free because schooling only takes a year.

It's against my self interest to say this, as someone with student loan debt, but I don't think it's fair to ask average Americans to pay for the student loan debt of those who used debt to finance co

Anyone who supported PPP and not loan forgiveness is a hypocrite. Those who took the money and criticize it are even worse. We lost 200 billion to fraud alone on PPP.

I’m not a student debt forgiveness fan.  While I do think the cost of education is rediculous and in need of reform, which is another subject, they signed on for what they signed on for.     I’

And there's we go. SCOTUS rules it's too significant to be allowed, which is quite the ideological (not legal) determination.

But creating an ideologically driven court is the entire point of the overt hijacking of the SCOTUS nomination process over the past handful of decades and specifically during Obama's term.

Nothing surprising, really.

Who would have thought that court nominees usually tend to rule based on their judicial philosophy which is why they were nominated in the first place. Heaven forbid…

You take out a loan, you pay it back. Pretty logical.

Will we see this energy at the next bank run, or when the anvil drops on commercial real estate?

Loans are obligations for some, negotiations for others.

Thankfully my son is in a very progressive school district that created a brand new STEAM Academy.

He'll have multiple opportunities while in high school to pick from a dozen different trades and enter in apprenticeship program when he's done.

We started a college fund when he was born, but I can only imagine what tuition will be by then.

So only businesses run by Republicans were helped?  The same businesses that employed the college grads that had outstanding debt? I do not recall any of you against the policy at the time.  Although in retrospect, the actual closing of the country was totally wrong. So much for science.

So, why stop at loans? Lets go for guaranteed income, reparations, anything else that is proposed by the left. What can possibly go wrong?

Here is a better question . Why is tuition so fucking high?  Colleges are sitting on billions of funds. Loan forgiveness just encourages them to charge whatever they want. If Joe wanted to reduce debt, how about forcing schools to use their endowments to help more students?

Oh shut the fuck up. They already charge whatever they want. You always say the result of such and such policy is X. And X is always already the case in all your scenarios.

Think about 200 billion dollars and what that could do for our country. 200 billion dollars was lost to fraud under Trump, the executive overseeing the implementation of acts by Congress, after he fired the IG overseeing the program days after it was rolled out. Lol at any Republicans claiming fiscal conservatism. It's beyond ridiculous.
