Explain to me how those mistakes were due to a lack of effort. Please. This should be easy for you. I don't need to. if you can't admit from the jump teams and players give different levels of effort in preseason, then we can't have an honest convo about the value of preseason. Its a prereq for the discussion. You just don't like being called out for watching preseason football around the league. I'd be embarrassed too if I admitted that. It could be an in-game thing where he just wants the ball out quickly while in practice it's being worked on. I know what I'm watching. I'm not turning or even judging. I'm saying directly it is worrisome about how it is I view the way to teach Ward. If he's a franchise QB he'll play well either way, but it isn't my style in terms of optimal coaching. And when I see it happening across the board that's the coaching. There's a fine line inside of it all, but in my opinion the most important thing in all of football is teaching your QB to step into and navigate the pocket. I'm not being soft, I'm trying to put what we're seeing into context. I'm also on here ripping certain players for bad plays. I'm not going to yell and scream because certain things are or are not happening in games that mean nothing when no one prepares and no one will remember. It's not that you don't need to; it's that you can't. You're getting called out directly and you're ducking the smoke. I'm right here. You're judging effort from results and ignoring plays that directly contradict your narrative. Trust me, I'm not the one being embarrassed.

I do remember a play last year against KC that he didn't come down with two feet in, on 4th down, but I thought that was more on Ward than Helm. He should be able to catch these balls though. Theyre not Seattle or Baltimore or the Eagles or one of these teams tbat just needs to tune up. This team has won 5 fucking games the last 2 years, they need to play hard & get their shit together: Jesus Christ if this is their attitude theyre fucked. The Titans are most likely a bad team and we knew that before this game tonight. If they had looked good tonight, they would still be a bad team. Thats why its means nothing. you can't judge good or bad play based on preseason. Its a scam the NFL sells us and too many fall for it. wait a few weeks, then we can debate what actionable data shows us.

He just got cut by Washington. His hands are as good as anyone I've seen. If he was just a bit quicker/bigger he could've been a starting TE for a long time. Again, it's a bad play from someone who should be better and has shown himself to be better. Is it something you'd expect to see in the regular season? Helm isn't someone I'd expect it from. Sure but this isn't what I asked you. In your estimation are these mostly mental/physical mistakes or mistakes due to an obvious lack of effort? I'm not just talking about the Helm play. I agree with your point for the most part, but it is always concerning when your QB is struggling in pre season against backups. We were all concerned when Mariota and Levis looked terrible in preseason Im of the opinion that the only thing that really matters in preseason is seeing your QB play pretty well. Ward was fine today which is the bar for me
