begooode
All the VY threads over the years pretty much end up in the same place with the same posters. Over this time there were indicators of “the true story”, milestone events of what happened with him, etc. But the one event that resonates the most over time, imo, was the time Vince was absolutely pile-drived into the turf at home in a Steelers game and not one single teammate did a fucking thing (Hell, the refs didn’t even call a penalty). This was at the height of the protect the QBs overcorrections. Insane. Initially it was embarrassing, but later I came to realize that VY’s offensive teammates must have been absolutely sick of the guy to not stand up for him at all. At ALL, especially for the Oline guys who’ve been trained to fight for their QB. Just a total team capitulation — never seen anything like it before or since. Young had legitimately good games. In multiples. Tebow was never good. It’s not even a conversation. Vince Young as the number three pick was obviously a disappointment. But to claim that he was Tim Tebow or Joshua Dobbs is unfair and means you’re just not looking at what actually happened on the field. Couldn't disagree more. Justafan
Tebow had essentially one full season of production - went 8-6 as a starter. Threw for 2400 yards, 17tds and 9 int over that time. He also rushed for like 1000 yards and like 12 more TDs over that span. Granted, it's a little misleading because i'm counting some stuff from some games he didn't start but we're two games short of a season here too so it all kind of buffs out to give us an idea of what kind of production he actually had over a season. For the record, I'm not making the case that Tebow was better. He was hot garbage, but it's dumb to say that Vince was far and away better and that no conversation could even be had. Vince was one of the worst QBs EVER to start for as long as he did.

I’m all ears. Are you basing it on expectation versus draft position?

A couple good moments shouldn't sway an entire career arch though. I was at that game. Sounded like a bomb going off in the stadium. It was electric. Only time I heard something louder than that was at the only UT game I've ever been to with my Pops when they beat Alabama a few years back. begooode, and Callidus

That's how bad VY was. Washed up Kerry Collins was seen by most of the fan base as the better option. At least the offense functioned when he was on the field. Josh Dobbs was likely a better QB for the Titans than VY and clearly 1000x smarter. He also got another job and didn't need his alma mater to give him charity to keep him from being homeless on the streets. They brought him back on but still one of my favorite VY stories was him getting fired because he refused to show up to work to shake hands and kiss babies. All he had to do was call in so they took him from 300k to 150 to only show up 2 days a week and then 3 the next week...and he couldn't do that either. Like my guy that's a kush a job as you'll ever find on the planet lol. Complete dullard. japan, begooode, and Justafan

I always use that clip to explain unnecessary roughness to people. Is that a penalty? Who knows, depends on who the ref likes or has money on. I think the best Young story was when he bought out all the seats on his Southwest Airlines plane so there weren’t others in the flight with him. Just take a private plane, it would’ve been cheaper. abenjami, IsntLifeFunny, Callidus, and 1 other

scine09
Speaking of the Arizona game, back to Young and Fisher, does anyone remember Fisher’s reaction at the end of that game? It certainly didn’t seem like a guy who hated his QB… Callidus

Imagine what would happen if that were Ward being corkscrewed like that. Even the ball boys would clear the bench and we'd be in the middle of an all out civil war. Simmons would go full T-1000 terminator on a bunch of mfers and Amy would be out there firing people left and right... from the other team. I don't even want to say what Furry-Rac would be doing to the other team's mascot. begooode

The funny thing about that play, Chris Johnson said the play VY called didn't exist. He messed up the verbiage and no one knew what to do... There is no way he could be your starting QB.
