Titans 2026 Training Camp Discussion

I don’t think the Daboll offense really exists because it’s looked different wherever he’s been. They seem to be doing way more 12 personnel and under centre stuff than he’s typically been known for

Saleh said 1 thing yesterday that seems to remain to be true - that the route runners are interchangeable in this offense. To counter that, some local guys have said that so far, piece dont seem to be swapping  around so much. So seems like what he wants to do and what we are currently doing arent lining up yet. Maybe its a development process. Maybe its growth or league trend.

Welp there it is lol

lol PK posted AI slop and had to delete it    it was a graphic of the 30 most important titans at training camp this year and feature notable titans such as Jared Verse, Jaylon Johnson and N

It would be pretty ideal if Latham is making strides to becoming the OT he was drafted to be and Carmona is a solid starting rookie.

Those guys are mirroring what several of us said when we hired Daboll. That the offense isnt the perfect fit for Cam and Doboll is a nujob.  Its not a bad system,  just not ideal. Its not innovative, but it at least is run by a guy that can scheme. It can work as long as he doesnt force Cam to run too much and opens the playbook. It will help him with presnap motions and such, but it will hold him back as well.

Doboll and the OL are my biggest question marks going into the season. Other than dealing with more inconsistency, I really don't get why people are scared to lose him or think he will get stolen quickly even if Cam has a breakout season.

McDaniel was the dream hire. Spread em out, timing, scheme genius, Cam could add arm and improvisation talent that he hasnt had in a while, etc. Clearly Herbert and a Harbaugh off a playoff push is a better feeling situation than a rebuilding Titans.. but hopefully there wasnt something in Cam that McDaniel didnt like.

What is this all of the sudden revisioning that Daboll's offense doesn't fit Cam? Isn't McDaniel's offense supposedly a lot more rigid, like Callahan's, and not very conducive to Cam's freestyling tendencies? That's what I thought was supposed to be so great about Daboll's, is that it was more of a fit. Was that just cope because we didn't get McDaniel or what?

I hope the offense succeeds massively and Daboll is the hottest HC candidate out there.

That's the ideal scenario.

That's the ideal scenario for Daboll and this season being a "success". Thats not the ideal scenario for Cam Ward and our offense long term. We constantly see young QBs struggle going from offensive scheme to offensive scheme. This is a downside to having a defensive minded coach. I hope the offense succeeds as well but that success is a double edged sword.

It's ideal because the only thing that really matters is for Ward to pan out. If that happens I don't care who the OC is. You'd rather have a lackluster offense with questions about Ward left unanswered just so we get the keep the OC and his system?

I don't buy the downside of a defensive minded head coach. First of all a strong defense is a huge asset to a young QB because he's not constantly put in a position to have to score 30 points a game to win. Secondly, if the OC shits the bed you can just replace him without having to fire the entire coaching staff and start from scratch like the Titans just had to do.

I'm not against continuity, but not just for the sake of continuity. And what's more important than continuity is having a stud at QB. If Ward turns out to be that top OC candidates will be lining up outside Vanderbilt Health Football Center.

No, the EP offense fits. Dabolls motions fit.

The version of his offense where he wants to run the QB 6x a game and has a simplified version doesn't.

I think that was always said.

It's been interesting watching a lot of the fan base turn against Daboll because of one bad performance in a preseason game from Ward.

I was gonna write the exact same thing but didn’t want to copy you lol.  But Ward throws five or six bad passes and has a bad play deep in his own territory and now all of a sudden the OC was a bad hire.   You can’t make this stuff up.

People freaked out because Ward left the pocket too early 2-3 times and was throwing way off timed. More than last year and it looked like a regression.

I dont think anything matters at all until the reg season but I understand the "uh-oh"s.

Making a hard line stance right now is silly though.

One season of offensive success doesn't mean Ward pans out. If Daboll is gone after 1 year, that hurts Wards development. We already missed out on the oppurtunity to set ourselves up with a great continuity option for the offensive system. Daboll was not a hire for long term success. Sure hopefully it works out short term.

I pointed out that I thought we made a mistake not hiring an OC from a coaching tree that has coordinators, qb coaches, quality control assistants getting promotions every single year. We went for an OC that had us on hold as he was still involved in HC interviews. Daboll has one foot out the door already. As I said, success is a double edged sword. Continuous turnover of offensive scheme does not help a QBs development.

This was how I felt when we hired Daboll as well and has nothing to do with 1 preseason game.

Daboll isn't going anywhere.  We can only dream that Ward and the offense are as good as J Daniels and the  Washington offense were in 2024, yet teams weren't rushing to give Kingsbury a HC job again.
