Starkiller
Teams absolutely need to fundamentally alter their defense to match up to these new 3 TE sets. You yourself claimed that as teams would primarily be in the nickel the “base defense” would only be used about 20% of the time. That’s an admission that the traditional “base defense” has already changed. It’s just that now you can’t have a traditional Sam LB out there getting beat by an extra TE in coverage when teams go TE heavy. The Super Bowl champs already figured this out. You are welcome to your opinion. Just don’t make stuff up by pretending you’ve figured out something no one else is smart enough to see or that the Titans have shifted their fundamental base defense when they clearly haven’t. I’m not pretending to have figured something out that you aren’t smart enough to see. I’m merely seeing the new trend around the league. You’re the one clinging to out of date tendencies. You literally said they would be in the nickel 80+% with no Sam LB in one post and then claim they aren’t going to change their base defense. By your own argument, their “base defense” wouldn’t have a Sam LB at all. Justafan

Whether or not he would succeed with more of the defense's attention going to him was his biggest question. He appears to be answering that in practice. Hopefully we'll see it in the games as well. Idk I just watched him play football with my eyes and saw all the traits of a number one receiver. But you’re right, it is just practice. I was just poking fun
TeamRamrod
Also interesting that the vibes have shifted in the right guard battle and it seems like Carmona has more of a shot than Slater at right guard now. I noticed he was getting first team reps in the scrimmage and reports from practice that he’s been getting more reps with the 1s lately. I only watched his senior bowl tape and he was terrible in those so I kind of wrote him off. But I did the same thing with Tanner Bortolini and he’s become a really good starting center for the colts. Would be a heck of a find by Reggie McKenzie and the staff if he can start as a rookie. Assuming they lean on McKenzie for OL evaluations as much as PK has reported DCTitan, and KogaShuko

In 2021 the Rams used 3 TEs 2 times all season. The Rams played 3 TEs vs the Jags this season 39% of the game, From that Jaguars game onward, the Rams were in 13 personnel for 323 of their 719 remaining offensive snaps (just under 45%). That was more than triple the 13 personnel usage rate for any other offense over the same span. TEs were drafted like crazy this past year, 2 off the all time record Patterns always cycle. When linebackers become the size of safeties and safeties the size of corners and there are more corners on the field it makes sense to go big and run more and pass out of run formations. He’s got arm talent but there is just nothing between the ears. I get really tired of hearing people talk about a player's "natural talent," or when they say "he's got a ton of physical talent." Because this isn't even true. Usually when talking heads say those lines, they are only talking about a few aspects of physical talent: body size, size to speed ratio (purely straight line), and arm strength. Accuracy is a physical ability. Judging speed and spatial positioning and throwing to a moving target is physical. Agility, coordination, and balance are all better for avoiding pressure than pure straight line speed (see Levis tripping on his own feet). Throwing at multiple angles and with varying touch are physical abilities. Levis is not a top 32 QB on "physical ability" and he isn't even backup-talent worthy when combining overall the mental side of it. His ball placement alone takes him completely out of that conversation. People called it hating but if you watched his college tape it's literally the same guy His best trait is he has a big arm and in the NFL that just isn't very special.
