Why would you assume that?

He got rejected as the head coach and was a finalist.  He probably thought he was getting the HC job.  Many people would not want to be second in command after thinking they'd be first in command.

he had a 5 year contract with the Giants for 5 years. Top OC salary can be as high as 6 mill a year.  Taking the Raider job for that money vs the plethora of options he has seems short sighted.

Particularly since he wont likely finish whatever contract the Raiders set up.

I’d take $30m now vs a hypothetical $30m in 2-3 years.

Not that I want him but nagy needs to get it through his head that he is as popular as puppy murder.

It wont be a 30m now. It will be 30m over the life of the contract (5 years).   Its more 30 million head coaching job over 5 years or 10 mill over 2-3 years as OC.   He HC job likely wont live out the 5 years and likely ends future hc opportunities.  The OC job would live out contact and likely live to many more.

The smart play is definitely a good OC job over the Raiders job.

Except he has no other HC jobs lined up...   I get holding out for a HC job if he has offers or options but otherwise he'll be OC somewhere.... and here is would give him that total control over the offense he wants and needs.

I doubt he said no to that. Seems more likely he's not being considered or has already done enough in the process to be a finalist on a decision.

Having said that.. they obviously seem to want Daboll and that's holding things up.
