Titans Get The #4 Pick In The Draft

I think this is why the Cardinals are pushing Love...

People think the Cardinals really want out, and would really like an offensive tackle. And if the Titans are going to take Love at 4, why not look to trade at 5 or 6 instead for cheaper?

The Cardinals threatening to stick and take Love disarms this plan. Because the implied threat becomes “hey, we’ll just take Love and then the Titans are sure to stick and pick your defensive target at 4. So you better come trade with us at 3 to get him.”

Love immediately makes you a more explosive team. He's going to add 10-20 TDs a year through the run and pass game. He's going to upgrade your pass protection. He's going to force teams to account for

The Jaguars gave up what again for Travis Hunter? This notion we should take less capital is kind of mind boggling. If a team wants to move then they need to pay the full price.

Did I come out swinging hard?

Well you ascribed a position to me that I did not take and then attacked me for it. But it's cool. I'm just suspicious of measurable guys playing new positions, esp at top of the draft. While he and/or Reese could end up being all pros, I just don't like the high bust factor. But I barely know what I'm talking about and am going on gut more than anything, so who knows? I mean I'm not crazy about drafting a RB at 4 either, and I'm at least as suspicious of Tate as a top 4 pick as Styles and Reese.

From Wyatt’s mailbag on the possibility of moving up into the first round

Jim: Hey Justin. I'm not ruling anything out. I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that the team moves into the back of the first round, but something like this wouldn't transpire until the night of the draft. So much hinges on which players might be available, and what other teams might be willing to do. But if there's a guy sitting there late in the first the team really wants, then I imagine some calls will be made.

It might cost less to move up from rd 2 this year because so many teams are desperate to trade down. I think. 35 + our fourth gets you into the late 20s.

If it’s going to cost less you might as well take advantage of it and get yourself a day one starter.

Guessing the spot is for a G/ILB/WR/edge.

Combination of slow fans who just want the shiny offensive player vs the posters who are just tired of selecting OL (even though you must do it every draft...)

My issue is spending premium capital on a guard or center when half the top players at those positions get drafter outside the top 2 rounds.

I wonder if this is dependent on them trading down at 4. Feels like a team with so many holes shouldn’t be parting ways with draft capital. But of course depends on what the trade compensation would be

Damn all this nonsense. Trade up from 35? We need more players, not fewer!

I think I'm getting serious draft fatigue. Is it Thursday yet?

Well if they can get a day one starter but have to give up a day 3 pick it’s still a good move .

You are assuming some of these day 3 guys will turn out to be starters.

some of these positions the value (starting potential) runs out earlier , OL you have to draft earlier.

If someone they like is falling- I think they could do that but not for anything expensive. Levis to go from 35 to 32? (I'm guessing here but adding a 5th or 6th round pick to go up a few spots, I could see.).  I don't see them trading a 3rd or 4th to do any big jumps.

Huh? I just asked you a question about what you were saying

We have an extra high fifth rounder we can use.

I’d use Levis in day 3 or round 3 to move up since his value is pretty low (6th rounder)

It's not even about the day 3 guys. It's about the potential extra day 2 player you're giving up.

Whatever they want to do I'll root for its success. But I think most of us would rather trade down from 4 than trade up from 35.
