It's the hardest problem NFL teams face. Lawrence showed just enough a few years back on that late season run to give the Jags false hope. Pay a guy who might be a franchise guy vs QB purgatory.

Not counting Watson of course Tua is the worst signing. Concussions, mediocre play etc...

The Vikes chose not to pay Darnold because he might have a limited ceiling and it's backfired horribly.

Murray has to be somewhere in the conversation...

If Brandon Allen is at QB and Ward is safely on the sidelines sign me up for the Slater C experiment.

Idk what about this is so difficult. The cap floor is 90% of the total cap every 3 or 4 years. Thats not that hard to hit and gives you flexibility to ride low some years and spend more in others.

Now. As for your lets overpay player B because we saved money on a qb. Why would anyone artificially pay a guy more than they think they are worth becsuse they have more to spend?

Let me put this in every day terms for you. You have a 200 dollar grocery limit. Everyone buys NY strip steaks, and it costs 50 dollars. There isnt always enough good NY strips for everyone though so I say spend 25 on less expensive steaks. Now you have an extra 25 dollars to buy whatever you want thats available. You are saying since I saved 25 on the steak I should spend 25 dollars on a 2 dollar box of mac'n cheese.

You can spend that extra money on something that you already are purchasing.  The salary floor means that teams are required to pay their players a certain amount.  They aren't going out to hire 10 players over the 53-man roster.

You are pretending that there is some golden Free Agent just sitting out there.  A magical unicorn upgrade at Left Tackle or something.  If a team isn't paying top-dollar for the QB, then sure, they have the OPTION of throwing extra cash at another player.  HOWEVER, that player needs to be available at that time.

In this current crop of Free Agents and Titans players coming up on an extension, who would you deem worthy of the extra money?  ...In this hypothetical situation of the team being under the salary floor.

At least with the Vikings KOC has a history of getting good QB play out of retreads. They still should have traded McCarthy and signed Darnold to a Tannyhill like deal.

There is a million ways you can spend the money man.

Resign one of your own players you may not have been able to if you overpaid the qb.

Extend some of your own players.

Sign some extra players to put around your qb that you otherwise couldn't afford.

Go for a higher tier fa than you were going to if you had paid the qb twice as much.

Save some of the money for next year.

Restructure a player(s) on your team to move money forward to artificially push the money savings down the road to a year you want it.

Maybe you can trade for a big ticket player now that you couldn't fit under your cap before.

You can sign players you were already going to sign to front loaded deals pushing the money into the future.

Pick any combination of the above stuff till you hit the magic cap number you are lookong for. Hell, you may not need to do anything if you are either already going to be over the 90% cap floor or if its the first couple years of the 4 year cycle.

Do i need to go on?

How are the titans going to deal with your little situation? We only pay cam 9, 11, 13, 15.5 mil in his first 4 years.

You act like if we dont spend our 100mil in cap space next year the nfl is going to cut borgo or brinkers balls off lol.

They could have signed him to what the Seahawks did, Tannehill actually got a monster deal
