Vrabel wanted total control, and he got in NE. If you think Vrabel out of dedication the Titans, was willing to take on being the top football guy, you are dumber than I realized. Vrabel has an ego, has always wanted full control at some point. He's been acting like BB since he got the Titans HC job. That has nothing to do with Carthon at all. The timing of the firings is suspect because Robinson was given an extension and then fired mid-season. The same with Callahan coming of a 4-13 season. They should have done it in the offseason. Carthon was extended...etc. Where I see some people conflate a bit is to make so much of the optics. It isn't like Strunk ever made some move to fire someone who didn't deserve it. So what if the AJ game was the final straw? That doesn't make her emotional, necessarily, but at the same time it really does raise eyebrows because of the context (team sits with a winning record). These types of moves regardless if they're the correct decision come across as dysfunctional. I've beaten that word into the ground a bit, but it fits perfectly. Only dysfunctional teams extend people then summarily fire them. Firing a coach mid-season is a terrible look, though necessary. The fact the presser was pushed back shows maybe the FO wasn't prepared. The Eagles game being last straw comes across as reactionary. Add in the optics of how Vrabel is viewed and voila. When Vrabel ousted himself, AAS made Carthon the top dog football team wise which came with an extension as he got a big time promotion. It was clear right away he couldn't do that job, Brinker had to take over midseason, Carthon quiet quit and got fired. The extension of Carthon is meaningless in this discussion, the fixation on it is crazy. Now as far as the jrob extension and firing, That one is harder to rationalize. The Titans were in the midst of being one of the better teams in the AFC and only a few years removed from the AFCCG. I think he really did trade Brown without informing her and she used that Eagles game to fire him. That is 100% reactionary and I would call that entire sequence poor decision making even if the end result was that a deserved firing took place What bothers me is the idea that firing Carthon and Callahan, two guys who were historically bad at their jobs, early on is somehow evidence of her meddling or being impatient. I call that being decisive and doing what needs to be done. Sure Callahan should have been fired after year 1, but they decided to give him a shot because they thought he would grow into the HC job. He didn't, and the team started spiraling. at that point, you make the move and applaud her for doing it without thinking about the reaction the useless media would have over it last thing I'll say here is the restructure of the org last year to make Brinker the top guy, let him hire Borgonzi, was a step in the right direction. That still needs to play out. Edited October 17, 2025 by oldschool IsntLifeFunny, DCTitan, rns90, and 1 other

Vrabel was fired at the end of the season, what source is listed as saying she decided after the Texans game? None of the above changes anything. Vrabel wanted out, everyone talked about for months. also lol at that article, you know who wrote it? she's a known Vrabel mouthpiece just like Breer is. Its clearly his side of the story I get it eeyore, you need to blame someone for the last 3.5 years. AAS is an easy target. I suggest you go look at other pro sports owners and level set. It could be a lot worse. 1 minute ago, oldschool said: wrong eeyore. Vrabel wanted total control, and he got in NE. Titans279
Let’s just admire that the guys calling other people conspiracists are the same guys saying Vrabel’s belief Carthon was not ready to be a GM was just a pretext to force a wedge between himself and AAS so that he could get fired and go coach the Patriots. He controls several members of the media who helped him launder this pretext which eventually manipulated AAS into doing exactly what he wanted her to do. oldschool, Jamalisms, rns90, and 1 other 1

Pushing for guys like Dillard to be signed? You think Carthon went against who Vrabel wanted that year? Saying Vrabel should have been given total control might be stupidest thing posted here all week and thats saying something. He's a great defensive planner, but he doesn't call plays and made half-assed coordinator hires. But Amy absolutely couldn't afford to get rid of the rare competent people who come in the building. She should have made it work, or at least have a suitable replacement instead of Brian fucking Callahan.

The fact Brinker and her hired the wrong replacement doesn't change that fact. FireInTheHole, rns90, and Justafan
