Agent talk... and there is nothing wrong with it. of course Saleh wants it to be known he wants to be a HC again this cycle.

There is scenarios in which he might not want a specific job because it’s his second go around. Also haven’t heard any specific reports of him wanting the giants job.

My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

How do you even score relevance? Total mentions on the internet? Total merch purchased?

To me it's pretty clearly what their value average has been the last 15 years along with record and week to week views.

You could argue ND has the biggest historical relevance but that's nostalgia and not current Brand.

He just seems to be going by his personal opinion to me.

I get it but you would have to hope that ward by year 4 or 5 is built up to the point where changing OCs isn't that big of a deal anymore. I dont expect him to turn into manning or anything but you cant just rule out defensive coaches completely for continuity sake.

With a defensive side of the ball HC, the ideal scenario is that your OC DOES get a shot at a HC spot because that means the team has been very successful.  The ideal scenario is to groom a qb or rb coach as the next OC and then absolutely nothing has to change when the OC gets promoted somewhere else.

edit:  if the OC gets snagged somewhere else then Ward is probably the de facto OC anyway in that scenario

Thats basically what I said.

Except for the guy to groom part.

Saleh worked with Shananhan, Kubiak and LaFleur.  Since he would likely concentrate on building the defense, he might allow the offense to flourish more so than an offensive head coach and would likely pull from one of those offensive trees.  So timing passes and play action, which I think would fit Ward well. And you could pull from other teams for coaches.

I really think Saleh should be the target.

I still haven’t done enough real research but he is the only former HC I dont have big reservations about.

After Callahan I'm jaded. we have no idea if any of these dudes will work out. I'm more convinced than ever a major factor is the staff a HC can bring with them. Callahan's claim was his dad and we know that was a massive failure. What sort of OC can Weaver bring?

Mike McDaniel! Wouldn’t that be nice?

Seems like he’s a popular dude around the league so who knows what kind of connections he has. As far as guys currently on the Miami staff maybe Bobby Slowik or Darrell Bevell (gross).

As far as I can tell, even dating back to his years as a player with the Texans under Kubiak, Weaver is heavily aligned to Shanahan tree in terms of offensive connections.

He did overlap with the BOB tree a bit in his later Texans stint as well, but I think he’d be more inclined toward guys like Slowik or Mike LaFleur for OC, maybe a Klay Kubiak.

I like the idea of a Mike LaFleur/Mike Munchak combo. It was widely known when Callahan was hired that Munchak was open to coaching in Nashville again, and Munch worked with LaFleur with the Rams for a couple years there from 2023-2024.
