They know they need draft capital to rebuild the roster. Edge rusher Arden Key, cornerback Roger McCreary and tight end Chig Okonkwo are among players on my radar. There could be more. But those three are 2026 free agents and do not appear in the long-term vision of the franchise. And the plan right now is to keep defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. He's unquestionably the Titans' best player and turns 28 in July. But Tennessee needs to find a way to make the job more attractive from a roster standpoint. Ward and Simmons are not enough. The team currently has seven picks in the 2026 draft and would like to add more. Fowler also mentions that he expects the 49ers to check in on the price for Arden Key among a group of other pass rushers they will be looking at. Yup sounds about right. Sweat just coming off IR probably makes him untradable in season.
AvgJoe
Pending where prices are, if you could get a Rashid Shaheed for a late draft pick given the cap space and lack of strong free agent class, Borgonzi should consider cautiously buying while selling our expiring players Edited October 15 by AvgJoe rns90, and titanskick8851

Buying and selling . Assuming you can trade McCreary, Chig etc for a fifth, I wouldn’t be against trading a fifth /sixth for some young player that whatever team has gotten disenchanted with . We need more NFL level players period

He is 31, though, and the smart move is probably to keep him year-to-year or hope for a comp pick if he walks. They could trade Jihad Ward and still potentially re-sign him next year Edited October 15 by Starkiller
AussieTitanFan08
Arden Key still being DNP with that quad issue is going to be problematic if they are hoping to trade him.

I just dont see how this makes us a better team. We've got 2 contributing starters there that will then need to be replaced by 5th rounders whose hit rate for starting is like 20%. If you are planning on signing a FA, then you just sign them for 2-3 year instead. It's fleecing the team of actual tangible talent in favor of lottery tickets We have a shit ton of money that we wont be able to spend this coming year anyhow, dumping guys to save more or not spend it while getting uncertainty back just seems like how we got into this spot in the first place. That’s why I’m advocating trading some of these low level picks for vets/younger players who can still play and are on the outs with their current team for whatever reason. Also they might think that they already have the replacement for Chig/McCreary in house w/minimal drop off titanruss, and titanskick8851

So you would prefer to see another 11 games from some players who are not part of the future plans and let them walk for nothing at the end of the season rather than get something for them now that might actually make the team better in the future. japan, IsntLifeFunny, titanskick8851, and 3 others

Why cant they be a part of our future? Mccreary and Chig are solid players. There's no need to offload them. extend them for a couple of years. We claim to be able to replace these guys, we claim to need to build our depth... but every single year we dont replace them and our depth has turned to shit.
