Houston used Texans because it was a legal name the NFL/predecessor businesses had already owned at one time, a situation reducing legal risk that might come from a unique name. 9 Nines
An insider shared with me that the Titans recently hired a creative graphics artist to create a new symbol to honor both Moon and the rising star that is Cam Ward. It will be unveiled officially in a few weeks but I think I have seen it somewhere before but I cannot pinpoint it. Here it is but it will be in Colombian blue as opposed to the black here. Ill give this troll job a 4/10 but everyone knows that white background is racist so ill have to deduct 6 points, leaving you a solid -2/

IIRC the state of Tennessee wanted to be included because they were paying some of the bill. Plenty examples where the name doesn't fit this hypothesis. Cleveland for example. They were established 2 decades prior. Baltimore? New England? I'm just saying what should be the standard. Like I don't believe home jerseys on sports teams should say the City/State name but the team name and away jerseys say the city/state. That's not as common in football but still. Also think it's kinda dumb they chose Tennessee as the location. I guess it's better than "New England" lol. Is this shtick?

I assumed it was because Nashville at the time was a smaller city on the rise and they didn’t want to turn off Memphis. Memphis was actually larger when the move was made. Jacksonville is like 5 times more populated than miami if you go by the city counts and dwarfed when you go by the metro for example.
