Or another question: what is the price to move off of #1? They need a lot. The Giants kept their coach and GM. They could stink again. And this sounds petty but we are right in front of the Pats if we do a trade w/NYG. But it’s most likely they stick and pick. If the reports about the Browns being interested in QB are correct then if we decide to trade out it has the potential to be one of the more interesting drafts we've ever seen. Brinker has just been handed a long runway with a ton of options.

Pretty sure the Jets will still be awful in 2025. The trade down option is infinitely more interesting btw. titanruss, DCTitan, and IsntLifeFunny

Stuff like that is why you have to take advantage of that type of run when you have it. I hate to say this, but Bud was also correct on this front. Starting Mariota the first 6 games crushed the team at the end. 4 straight away playoff games (week 17 win and in) after crawling back from 2-4. You could see it at the end of the half with the Mahomes scramble. They were completely gassed entering the second half and instead of Vrabel giving the team a chance by feeding AJ he went to Henry against stacked boxes. C'est la vie. 2 SB chances in 3 years isn't bad. The 21 Cinci loss still hits though lol. rns90, and Justafan
AvgJoe
Stillman hearing Brinker did NOT want to keep Callahan, Amy did. Only sharing simply because his internal source said Vrabel and Carthon separately were likely fired. https://x.com/jaredstillman/status/1876841500836843917?s=46 Edited January 8 by AvgJoe Yoshimitsu

The comparisons to McNair and Mahomes hold water in various ways. He has eyes on the back of his head like McNair and he makes some things look so easy that you have to watch a few times to see how ridiculous he was like Mahomes. He isn't the runner or all around tank that McNair was, and he doesn't have the arm or dexterity of Mahomes. I think we pick him. He would easily be the best QB we've drafted since McNair. That isn't up for debate. rns90, and AvgJoe

This made me have faith in Brinker a bit more. Callahan is a smooth speaker and has left a mark on Amy-- he's not Brinker's guy. Which pretty much means it's deliver or force Amy's hand again which is to fire Cally and embarrass the organization for the 3rd straight year IsntLifeFunny, and Justafan

If you are the new GM: Like a QB? Take them. If you don’t? Trade down and accumulate assets that HE will now get to use. This was an excellent move This to me is huge. Now I feel like if we pick a QB it’s because they truly evaluated him as a franchise guy. I think it would’ve been impossible for Ran to truly be objective. I know this isn’t the thread for this but as it stands right now I think a trade down is Option A followed by a stick & pick of Travis Hunter. He’s just too special. I mean, he was a truly elite guy on both sides of the ball. He was the best HS player & the best college player. Great character & had almost a 4.0 GPA. Plus I have a feeling he’s going to have an insane workout. I’d be shocked if he isn’t a sub 4.4 guy & I can even see something in the order of a 4.27 with equally insane 3 cone & shuttle numbers. And if we do decide on a QB I can see getting behind your boy. Cam has some things that worry me but he also does a lot of great things to.

He's the one who got Mularkey fired based on Mariota not performing. He's the one who gave him the 5th year option. Can't blame that one on AAS. He was a critical part of the hiring process of Callahan. I doubt he wasn't on board. That doesn't mean as time went by he didn't see things he didn't like, such as tendencies on the field, on the sidelines, with the players, or in the office. There is basically a zero percent chance we stick and pick Hunter. It would go against everything Brinker has said about building a team. titansfan
I'm getting the sense that Brinker is a logical, straight shooter who doesn't care for the pageantry of catering welcomed answers to the boss. That doesn't make him GM material but its probably a deadpanned keen focus on just football that likely endeaers him to superior decision makers even if they disagree with him Edited January 8 by titansfan Supernope, IsntLifeFunny, Justafan, and 1 other 3
