If you have 20 fumbles but only lose 4 that would be ridiculously misleading to only show 4. If you keep getting bailed out by defensive players with stone hands or wrs helping you out by knocking the ball away looking at interceptings alone tells you very little. Twp vs int can also show you how unlucky a guy is vs looking like they had a bad yesr. I cant rember who it was but a couple years ago someone had more ints than turnover worthy passes which means alot of tipped passes that his guys missed or just unbelievable defensive plays you cant blame him for. Its a meaningful stat even if you cant wrap your head around it. I don’t agree. A fumble is a fumble. An almost interception is not an interception. Look, people can drill way down into whatever stats they want. I’ve always thought it was silly and dont put any stock in it. I just look at INTs. You are claiming to have never watched a game and the guy ended the game say 14/22 180yards 1td 0int but threw the ball directly to a defender 3 times and each one was dropped, and not thought he got lucky he sucked today? Im calling bullshit. animatormike, Hyperion, and IsntLifeFunny

If he can't get that one then it just means the communication is broken, which is fine, but this was really well stated. Callidus

That shit happens all the time in college lol and is one of the myriad of reasons QB is the toughest position to scout. Using advanced data to gather information on an extremely dynamic situation sounds like exactly what those stats are made for! OnsideKick
Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison… I forgot how much I loved his ‘23 tape. Here’s 5 plays vs. OSU ‘23. Step-for step w/ MHJ but gives one up. Then watch how he responds on the rest of game! Not biggest, nor fastest. But DAMN good football player. Instincts, leverage, ball skills, etc. If medical checks out, he’s CB4 in this class for me (Travis, Will, Jahdae). Zone-heavy NFL teams love him! I definitely think it's one of the sillier stats in football. But it is a stat, so people will use it to say a guy is unlucky vs another guy who gets away with riskier passes. Just my opinion. They need almost dunks in basketball... Edited February 24, 2025 by japan
