People love to shit on fans who "think they know more than the paid professionals" but honestly sometimes these decisions are so retarded that yeah, we do know better. A fucking guard with historically short arms even for a guard, with 0 experience ever playing guard and you take him just outside of the top 10? Gee, what ever could go wrong? Imbeciles. When we first drafted him I held out hope he could at least be serviceable as a tackle and could maybe man 3 spots in a pinch...nope. According to two different staffs he's strictly a LG, not even a very good one. Edited December 16, 2024 by IsntLifeFunny Mythos27
TampaTitan
Isn't one of the guys in the ownership group good friends with Peters? That and they had a high pick in a pretty good QB class surely were factors.

The drafts the past two years look solid to good minus Levis and we have no idea whether that was Vrabel, Carthon, or both. You don't fire Callahan after one year with levis at QB. Nevemind the fact for the fire both crowd, you want to wait to fire Carthon in his first year with full control until the end of the season and then be behind the rest of the league looking for a HC? You guys simply aren't thinking clearly. Edited December 16, 2024 by oldschool No1TitansFan, prometheus, and DCTitan 2

oldschool
I'd also add the offense scored 28 points today, not hard to do against that Bengals D, and would have scored way more if Levis didn't single handedly kill 4 drives with bad turnovers. The only way you fire carthon and Callahan if if they pitch running it back with levis next year.

I'm not saying this is necessarily the exact point you're making but I'm going to jump off from it: At some point, I would hope that people realize the bust rate on QBs is absurdly high and they stop looking at a QB bust as the reason to fire a GM. Maybe you look at it as a contributing factor or maybe you look at his evaluation and you say he was just completely off base and then it's a little bit biggercontributing factor but the idea that it, alone, is enough ... it's plain silly and fundamentally disconnected from the reality of how things play out in the NFL. prometheus, oldschool, RisingTitanFan, and 1 other
Jamalisms
That said, I've already barely paid attention for months now. Levis has clearly not been 'it' and dedicating the season to him in the hopes that this somehow miraculously changes or (worse) pretending it wasn't self-apparent already is just not a game I'm here to play. Add on top of it that the team as a whole lacks personality and the coach is similarly blah and I'm not seeing a whole lot of offensive elevation from him and ... wake me up next season. Spending 2nd and 3rd round picks on Levis is only part of the problem for Carthon, he just spent the most guaranteed money of any team in FA and sold it as a way to make this team competitive which they clearly are not. Then there is his whining about wanting more draft capital after he played a part in creating the problem (Levis/Sneed) plus turning down an instant remedy in the gift the Rams offered him during the 2024 draft. He doesn't get a lifetime pass to fix the issues he inherited, two years into his tenure he still has glaring holes at many of the most important positions in football (QB/EDGE/WR/OT). Itd be a lot easier if the issues were confined to just the QB and a few problematic areas. They still have issues at LB,S, DL etc. Outside of C which area has he at least solidified on the team moving forward into the future. Owns part of the ST disaster by not signing proven ST guys. Levis is a huge problem but he’s far from the only one.
