The first thing they say is "why weren't you wearing your seatbelt?"

Seems like an unnecessary stop.. and fixing a scratched lambos window is multiple thousands... so I get the reaction from Tyreek but he didn't need to keep going and then close the window.

The road raging Hispanic cop needs to be off the streets. Tyreek needs lessons on how to interact with cops.

I get it. That Hispanic cop needs to chill, but look at this shit from his perspective. He's a fucking cop. He has ALL of the authority to order these players to do or not do stuff. They're treating him like he's a substitute teacher in high school because they're millionaires.

That video is a bad look on everyone in it.   Tyreek is a moron.   The cops think they can be assholes and attack people while hiding behind weapons and a badge.   Talk l

Cops legally don't have to protect citizens. If they see a known attacker with a weapon, they can ignore the person. This has been upheld in court multiple times.   However, cops are also al

This attitude that anything short of model behavior gives cops the green-light to use excessive force is directly what leads to people getting shot for little reason. I get that cops have a tough job

It doesn't take many life-threatening situations to make you suspicious of certain situations and attitudes.  That doesn't give cops a reason to be total power-hungry assholes, but it should be some perspective on why they sometimes act more aggressive than you would want them to.

I still have friends that refuse to drive over anything on the road because they fear IEDs ( @Justafan I'm sure you do too).

Definitely. Crowds is the big one for me.

We ask too much of our civil servants. You're asking a guy to risk his life to enforce the law on a teacher's salary. How's a 25 yr old cop gonna get shot at on Monday by a gang member, spit on by a crackhead on Tuesday, pull over 30 women for speeding to a tennis lesson who cry to get out of a ticket on Wed, pull a dead family out of a car on Thurs who got hit by a drunk driver, get his overtime denied on Friday due to budget cuts, chase a shoplifter on Sat, and....what for it....

Have a good fucking attitude when some asshole NFL millionaire wants to blow threw his zone and act like a fucking hot head asshole in front of his teammates and claim to be a victim of racism on Sunday???

The problem is deeper than the individual. Teaching cops that they can die in every situation while not even being too 10 most dangerous jobs is a bad tactic. Military guys getting jobs as cops with less public training is a problem.

The average cop deaths in the line of duty per 100k is 13 (at least in 2022) Less than landscapers and slightly more than painters. Same as the average driver risks in a year just being on the road (12.8 deaths per 100k) in the USA. And that 13 number for cops includes traffic accidents....

Cops across europe and Asia know de-escalation techniques and are in much better shape and get paid less on average than in the USA.

The issue is training and vetting. There's also a psychological problem with interacting with police and how that is already an escalation. Cops are used to the situation and should be better at them as well as understand that dynamic.

You want to fix 99% of these issues? Traffic cameras. De-escalation training. Requiring cops to get personal insurance. Eliminate police unions. An educated public on how to interact properly.

No doubt Hill was a dick. But being a dick in an uncomfortable situation is not a reason for escalation to a situation where injuries went from zero chance to highly likely.

Him being handcuffed, stood up, and controlled by two calm cops while the roid raging cop is bouncing around and trying to take his knees out and put him back on the ground was as big an issue as anything.

They know who he is, have him controlled and the keys to his car. At that point it's someone needing to feel powerful.

Or possibly had a bet on the Jags or may have just wanted a chance to drive his lambo haha!

Your analogy doesn't work. The police are an authority figure with lawful authorization to use force and protected by qualified immunity if they make a mistake. Being non-compliant is fine - with words. When that non-compliant escalates to non-compliant behavior, cops have to escalate their force to ensure their safety, control of the situation, AND your compliance.

It's not the cop's job to be nice. He's not stopping you to offer a coupon to an all-you-can-eat buffet recently opened down the street. He's stopping you because he either knows or has reasonable suspicion that you have or will likely commit a crime.

The analogy works perfectly well because I'm not highlighting whether the power imbalance is legally justified or not but rather whether it is moral and/or a useful way to behave. The cops often abuse the power imbalance and leverage it to inflame altercations with people rather than de-escalate and they do it knowing that there will rarely be repercussions for acting this way. Tyreek being a model citizen could have prevented what we saw in the video but so could've the police acting like professionals and not losing their cool the second someone is being difficult. Saying that Tyreek and other ordinary citizen have to be always be on their best behavior to avoid getting beaten up or worse while not holding the highly paid, "trained professionals" to even the standard of maintaining professionalism is stupid and dangerous. The more power someone has, the more measured they should be when wielding said power. Your reasoning and conclusions are ass-backwards. Hold these motherfuckers to at least some standards.

That's no excuse.

If you can’t control your anger and be patient then you shouldn't be a LEO. It is a simple as that.

Very understandable. It is a very stressful and dangerous job. When you pull someone suspicious, you have no idea what you're getting into. I certainly get the mentality that they're just trying to get home to their families, but shit, so are we.

He could’ve gotten the Benoit Benjamin treatment. Benoit was a backup Center who got traded to the Lakers in the early 90’s. After being pulled over in his convertible for running a stop sign in a super wealthy area, he loudly protested, claiming it was bullshit & he “slowed down” at the stop sign. One of the officers responded by absolutely unloading on his noggin with a night stick.  After screaming to please stop that he was going to kill him, the officer asked him “OK, do you want me to stop or just slow down?”

Maybe they'll make murals for Tyreek, what with all the trauma and his "civil rights" being trampled upon.  Maybe he can get a mural next to Floyd...

I mean they share a criminal history in common--in fact they have a history of threatening and physically assaulting pregnant women.

Tyreek also beat on his 3 year old kid and broke his arm.

Same Tyreek that trespassed onto a Marina and onto a boat and then when he was confronted--he told the guy he could buy him and his boat....

Yes, past criminal history does not constitute grounds for how cops should conduct themselves in a separate and current situation--but it sure does explain a lot about the dude that constantly finds himself in trouble...

The level of brainwash effect on people is staggering--this story is blown up like some mass genocide has been perpetrated upon Tryeek Hill and the Dolphins...oh, the horror...the injustice of it all!!

Would there even be any discussions if this happened to any random dude...?
