To make a room full of people to laugh for 30 minutes is not easy.  I tried it. It's really difficult.  

 

I don't know if it takes a really smart person to do it but I think you need a level of social awareness and some intelligence to do what Gaffigan and Trump did.  

 

Kamala didn't need to make people laugh because she used her attractiveness whet she was younger I would imagine.  She hasn't really honed any skill from what I can see. 

 

But back to the topic.  Humor is a skill that can be very effective and it actually humanizes us.  It's actually humbling when even the person holding the highest position of office can not take themselves too seriously.  That's not the ONLY thing, nor is that the most important thing.  But I think it's a positive and I don't think it's necessary for you to turn it into a negative. There's plenty of other attributes that you can mention. Lack of Intelligence isn't one of them.  

Trump read prepared jokes for him prepared by writers. That’s not what makes him dumb, though, as that’s commonly done.

Except that with the George Floyd/BLM riots, the violence was generally perpetuated by opportunistic criminals using the protests and crowds as their cover.  
 

There were numerous videos of actual protestors trying to physically restrain the criminal element from vandalizing and looting…. because they knew violence would overshadow and negate the fundamental  message of the protests.  Which is exactly what happened. 
 

In Nashville, the single most famous image from the protests was a guy setting fire to the federal building in downtown Nashville.  He was later found to have zero connection to BLM or the protest….just some redneck POS looking to fuck some shit up.  

 

I don’t recall seeing any footage or photos of Trump supporters defending the Capitol building, assisting or rendering aid to injured police officers,  or lifting a finger to discourage the vandalism, destruction, and looting inside the Capitol.     I guess they were probably too busy fighting to  “Save America” and “Make America Great Again”!

I'm certain that was the case as well for the "mostly peaceful protests" all around American cities.  I said so myself.  I said so myself that some of those who looted were just capitalizing on the social unrest to steal shit.  I think BLM has some true believers. I personally think BLM and Antifa are divisive and overall horrible groups to buy into.  But I respect those who protested peacefully. I still think the organizers of the protests should have taken responsibility for the carnage that went on.  

I do not think Trump needs to be held responsible for Jan 6th Riots unless there is definite proof that he incited violence (email, text, phone conversation, audio/video footage, meeting notes, etc).  I think all of the police officers, violent protestors, and trespassers involved should be arrested.

Thomas Massie questioned AG Merrick Garland about Fed Agents being present and if they attacked the capitol.  He ducked these questions. 

He refuses to answer to the court's subpoena... double standard anyone? 

And Garland ends up indicting Ray Epps a day before his questioning in front of congress with a misdemeanor LOL 
Trump commits victimless crimes and gets felonies while this dude is literally on video "INCITING VIOLENCE" and DOJ gives him a slap on the wrist.  Pretty hilarious LOL  We are brainless idiots. Nothing to see here folks. 

I know it's a bit much but this cop became a celebrity due to his "heroic actions" on Jan 6th.  His story doesn't check out. I think there needs to be a lot more transparency and a lot more investigations on the agitators and those who let these agitators in.  

Even with our disagreements, I've given you a lot of credit for actually participating in actual thoughtful discourse. This time is no different. 

My question is, if you're willing to give the mostly peaceful protestors a break, why not give a break to most of the Trump supporters who went to the rally and didn't even know there was an "insurrection" on capitol building.  My friend was there. He was on the other side of the crowd and didn't even know there was any violence at the capitol.  

I still have a lot more questions than answers about Jan 6th but let's leave out all of the rally attendees who were mostly peaceful.  Let's also leave most of the BLM protestors who were peaceful out of it as well. 

We should go after all the people (Trump supporters or not) who did anything illegal that day.  Fed or political activists should not be immune to the criminal activities that happened that day.  

I also would like to get all the murderers, rapists, thieves, and vandals during the whole 2020 summer of love "mostly peaceful protests." But we all know that's literally an impossibility.  

Are we in agreement on both accounts?

I remember right after Jan 6 how MAGA were saying how could it be illegal if no one was arrested? how could it be an insurrection if no one has been charged with insurrection? completely downplaying the reality of it. Then bit by bit, the story and justification changed to suit the facts as they came out. Having a mind made up and tailoring the facts to suit it, nothing more.

 

Now it's "I hope anyone who broke the law gets prosecuted, but here is a whole list of exaggerated and made up stuff about federal agents and antifa and gaslighting with unrelated facts". It's the real reason why they are impossible to engage with seriously. Disingenuous to the core. It's like listening to the bullshit pitch of a slimey salesman you know you're not going to be buying anything from. It's funny at first but it's just a waste of time for everyone.

Great post.  But most posters here only want to here one viewpoint and can't imagine that what they have been spoonfed has many holes in the narrative.
