begooode
It’s impossible to argue against the energy that the Harris/Walz ticket has brought to the election. Even more so is the type of positive energy from Kamala and Walz as opposed to the upside down retribution fueled narrative the repubs continue to offer up
Justafan
Really like what Im hearing from Harris’s economic plan. No longer pushing for Medicaid for all - focus on child tax credit, grocery, medical, and housing costs. Of course, it's easy to lay out generalities and I won't agree with everything (like climate resistant communities…) but the framework is reasonable and I think targets the right audience. https://www.reuters.com/markets/us/harris-focus-grocery-costs-child-tax-credit-economic-agenda-advisers-say-2024-08-14/ Jamalisms, IrishTitansFan, Titans279, and 1 other
Justafan
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trumps-economy-speech-veers-personal-attacks-harris-biden-rcna166652 Compare this to Trump's remarks on the economy, which amount to personal attacks on Biden and Harris, protectionism, tariffs, some sort of strengthened border policy, and maybe a crime bill. Oh, and "drill baby drill!" apparently, too. Big businesses will still probably side with Trump just due to massive tax breaks and deregulations being at stake, but it's pretty clear that your average worker stands to gain far more from Dem policies. Usually, Democrats campaign on progressive policies and then dial it back when they get in office and reality and Congress set in, but Kamala is campaigning on a fairly moderate economic platform... at least so far... which gives me hope. reo, Titans279, and chef

At least half a dozen insurers left the state because property is uninsurable due to the risk. I'm interested to see how she frames this issue. It's real. Yeah, not a fan of that and like I said, I wont agree with everything. Having said that, some regulation will always be necessary when private entities collaborate or abuse the market in order to exploit consumers. I have far less issue with that than I do Trump’s tariff’s for instance… reo, and IrishTitansFan

I can't imagine either one does away with primaries but I do think there's an incredible advantage to Harris in that she wasn't dragged to the left in order to win the nomination and now she can pivot far more to the center or to the right than she otherwise might have in order to pick up independents. There's fewer negatives / ability to paint her as an extremist because she didn't make promises and she's not on video trying to appeal to the left and there are many more positive things she can do to attract people in the center with her policy reveals And not having to go back on promises previously made.
